A former missionary in Brazil, Doctor Champlin now teaches Greek, Latin, and Portuguese at the University of Utah. After four years in Brazil, he decided to return to the United States to get a Doctorate in Greek in order to translate Greek textbooks for Brazilians. His studies included one year at the University of Chicago. He plans to return with his family to Brazil sometime next year. Doctor Champlin s brother, a missionary in the Congo, has recently been forced by rebel forces to leave that country. Their mission station and village were completely destroyed by fire. Both brothers are natives of Salt . Lake City. Doctor Champlin s lecture Sunday evening will show the work he has done In translating some 40 original New Testament manuscripts. This Is a highly interesting subject, and one very important for determining the correct translation of scripture.
