Show MUCH UTAH LAND NOW UNDER SURVEY emery county receiving attention new regulations proposed elsewhere we a notice issued by the U S surveyor general s office of the district of utah at salt lake city inviting b ds to execute surveys of government land in portions of emery grand carbon aid ustah counties reference to this notice which appears in our advertising columns will show that in some of the townships some very desirable land will be made pos sible for entry through this action of the department borne of this land of course is mountainous and some of it is coal and mineral land the in tenor department is caus ng th survey ing re surveying and of more land in utah to day we believe than at any other oie period all of this ind cates that the land of this state looks good to the and miner who are demanding that these lands b made easy to acquire and obtain title to we are pleased to see that the present U S surveyor general of utah taomas hill H ill is aid ng in this matter with his characteristic willing ness and energy ahr is considerable land in emery county to day probably a m alion and a half acres of good agricultural land through a of dams and i servo irs that will made t possible to catch and store the water that is now going to waste in our and creeks and applying it to lands it the time it is most needed much of this idle land can be brought under cultivation through irr gat on and much moie of it can be dry farmed to advantage we further believe eliat in the sinbad basin as well as elsewhere in the county 1 in paying qan titis will soon be found and we tru t that all of this land will be surveyed within the next few ears in connection with the above matter we ire pleased to note that Re presenta tive mondell of wyoming introduced a bill in congress this week authorizing the secretary of the inter or to have surveys or retrace ments of public lands made whenever he may deem it assent bat after investigation because of inability to define boundaries the go eminent continues to find it difficult to d apse of some of its public lands with out a resurvey Und erthe present law one must re sort to a private bill before congress to hae a certain piece of land retracted and it is the purpose of tt e bill to put the matter of re at the discretion of the secretary of the interior |
