School H Club Attends By MARY GAIL STARK 4518 Mrs. Each week this space Is devoted to a fair number of words for the ladles. Its Important to know what Is going on In the world of fashion ... helpful to us and our families In many way. However, it seems that men are not frequently consulted when It comes to their likes or dislikes In the womens world. We ladles like to believe that our men adore us any way we happen to turn ourselves out for them. Alas ... It Is not so! Males Speak Up i During the past few weeks I have talked with several fellows who read our Hats Off to Fashion. Each had lots of good things to say - but they also wanted to register some pet The gentlemen peeves. these that understood things might take time to correct, but they wanted to be heard... just for the record. I thought their complaints were really valid myself. Youll have to make up your own minds, but be reasonable. When men make up their minds to speak out, then we should by all means lend an ear. First on the list of hated things was women In hair rollers. This was really frightful In their eyes. There was hardly any time, they said that would be appropriate for a woman to be seen with her hair up In rollers. The only thing to do is go hide In the beauty shop or lock the doors at home (while the men are away) and let them believe that nature gave you curly locks that always look lovely. Its all In the timing and really can be done Buddist Festival Cant Some Can, Some Four girls from the Sew n Sews Club attended the Obon Festival at the Salt Lake Buddist Church, Saturday, July 25, as part of their World Understanding Program. After a bit of urging, the girlA joined In the dancing with the beautiful kimonoed dancers. Unable to make the festival trip with her fellow ers was member Katherine Bernsten. She and her family are vacationing InYellowstone National Park. Leader of the group Is Eleanor Zimmerman. 4-- H Next would be ladles in pants. All kinds of pants. I heard various gripes on berraudas, stretch styles and jeans. These gentlemen agreed that a good figure was needed to wear the very sleek style pants, but If that was not the case, then please get ones that fit gently. When you feel poured In ... get the larger size. It just might help to ask you hubby or boy friend If he will be ashamed to be seen with you when you are out wearing your slim pants or shorts. Apparently, most men choose not to be honest for fear of hurting feelings. In this case, they are doing the ladies of their lives an Injustice. 4-- H State Jewelers Elect Area Man A Holladay resident, Norman Berndt, 3979 Crestvlew Drive, his been elected president of the Intermountain Retail Jewelers Association. Others elected during the convention were W. C, McConnahay, 205 Douglas Street, first vice president; Charles E, Allen, Twin Falls, Idaho, second vice president; and Mrs. Grace Berndt, 3979 Crestvlew Drive, executive three-da- y secretary. Fernandez, 1414 Westminster Avenue, one of a selected group of teachers from throughout the nation who will complete a sequential Summer Institute In 4-- Ruhtoru Socks? Dirty Feet Or f complaints concerned bobby socks. Some didnt mind them with golf shoes or for certain occasions such as bowling, but they didnt like them In general. Most men shuddered at the thought thafome ladies still could be seen with bobby socks on witn little heel type shoes, and In some instances, even high heels. I havent seen this sort of flagrant disobedience to the rules of fashion In a long while ... but I would take a chill myself if it were to happen. Lets do leave the anklets and bobby socks to very little girls -- - at least students. Remember, no anklets with sandals either. The excuse that you feet will get dirty wont do. Feet wash up nicely but the impression you create In sandals and anklets will be hard to erase. few A Say It Softly There were lots of other things mentioned. A number asked why women couldnt cultivate their voices to sound softer and,-mofeminine. Shrilff harsh sounding voices must be more common than we like to think. Some complained about the very short dresses for evening wear. Apparently, they did not think an elegant party or an extra-spec-ci- re al should dance be the place for short, short skirts that have a way of sort of disappearing when the girls sit down. I think the gentlemen would just like their ladles to look like John (Talml) Kuhl-ber- g, 4210 Monarch Way, has gained nationwide recognition through her special ministry and talent.
