Alan Wilkins did most of the running on this march, but Loren Duke helped out with a yard jaunt. Toward the end of the half, the Wildcats threatened again, this time starting on the Wildcat 29. Wilkins moved the ball to the lions 26 in four plays. BY continued to move the ball forward, but time ran out before they could punch it over. The gun sounded with the ball inside the Payson five yard line. A Lion drive at the end of the third period set up their first TD, d a plunge early in the last quarter. The only BY score came on a pass to sophomore Clint Williams who went 37 yards to paydirt. Dave Rich spearheaded the BY defense, gaining 11 tackles during the game. Brian Bergren drove in for eight more yards, but the Wildcats failed to make a first down and the ball went over. Provo then made another touchdown. and the Wildcats again penetrated Provo territory, this time with passes to Alan Thomson, one of which was deflected before he hauled it in. But again BY ran out of downs and lost possession of the ball. The lone BY score came in the fourth quarter after a punt return to the BY 47. due to a good block by Rick Gunn The Wildcats drove to the Bulldog 15 where BY threw a tackle eligible pass to Ray Valgardson who scampered down to the three before he was downed. Tw'o plays later. Sophomore Clint Williams ran around the left side for six points. A Wildcat fumble on their own 20 set up the last Provo TD, although the Bulldogs threw four passes over the endzone before they made the score. BY completed six of 11 passes compared with 11 of 27 for Provo. The Wildcat defense was headed by Sherm Smith, guard, and Gunn, both of whom got seven tackles. Five tackles were added by Frank Maas and Dave Rich. Coach Gibson plans leave next semester Jed Gibson, head football coach at BY, has recently announced that he plans to leave Provo next semester to work on his doctorate degree in New York. Coach Gibson, now in his seventh year of coaching here, will study at Columbia University in New York City for a doctorate in physical education. Although Coach Gibson will be gone during most of the basketball season and all of the spring sports, he plans to be back next year to coach the Wildcat football team. The many responsibilities now handled by the coach will be taken over by members of the PE Department. Joe Dilworth is scheduled to take over as head coach of the BY Wildcat track team. According to Coach Gibson it is presently undecided who will coach the JV and sophomore basketball teams. n (BY-seven- two-yar- 38-ya- ). BY came in the fourth quarter on a pass play. In the game against North Frosh meet Judge tomorrow two-yar- d BY High freshmen footballers now have a 0 record with wins against North and South Summit. Tomorrow The freshmen will play Judge Memorial on the field south 2-- the stadium.
