NOTRE MAISON Plans will soon begin for the annual Girls Day, consisting of a fashion show, tea, and a dance. LETTERMEN Initiations were held this month. Plans are being made for a party, a dance, and an assembly to be sponsored by the boys. Band and Chorus Feature Spring Concert March 25, is the date set for the B.Y. High School chorus and band spring concert, to be held in the Provo Tabernacle. This' annual program under the direction of Farrel Madsen, is put on for the pleasure and enjoyment of the people of Provo. The Concert will feature the senior and junior high bands, and chorus. The junior high chorus will sing Praise the Lord by Lint-Saenand See the Conquering Hero Comes, by Handel. Some of the selections the senior high chorus will sing are "Oh Sing Unto Him by Luvaas, by Walk Together Children, Wm. Henry Smith, Lady of Lov-es- t and Eyes, by LLndy. Seniorunder are chorus junior high the direction of Fredrick N. Webb. This will be the last concert put on by the band till it departs for Tucson, Arizona. Both bands, junior and senior high, are under the direction of Farrell Madsen. is a junior this year, having come to the Y when he was a soph- omore. He previously attended the Dixon Junior High SchooT, ' where he was a member of the school police force. Gary has served as athletic manager this year. He has filled the position well and gained recognition for his sense of sportsmanship. Gary is also a member of the Letterman Club. Last year he was a member of the school Concert Chorus. Gary is known around school as one of the smartest dressed boys. Like most boys, Gary is an ardent sports fan. In his spare time he likes to get together with the boys and play a good game of baseball. Number one sport list is tennis. He plans to go out for the tennis team this year. Gary is one boy who has his -o- n-Garys future all mapped out. His cho sen profession is dentistry. Gary plans to attend the Brigham Young University and then to finish his studies at one of the leading dental colleges. Many years of studying lie ahead of Gary before he can reach his goal. Garys ready smile, friendliness, neat appearance and keen sense of humor have won him many lasting friends at the Y. High to Host Region 3 Forensic Meet March 1 6 1 7 B. Y. The Region 3 Forensic meet will be held on March 16, 17, as announced by George Lewis, speech director. B.Y. High will be the hosts this year for the meet, which will decide the finalists who will go to the state meet in Salt Lake City. Forensic includes entries ip extemporaneous speaking, debate, legislative forum and oratory. There will be students entered from Lehi Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Lincoln, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson, Juab, Tintic and Kayaks Down Nile Returns for Benefit Kayaks Down the Nile was witnessed by thousands on March 11, at 8:00 p.m. in the B.Y.U. Fieldhouse. John Goddard an L.D.S. explorer, made his second return to Provo for the bands On to Tucson benefit. Mr. Goddard lectured and showed films on his trip down the Nile. He and his companions are the first men to ever conquer this river. Candy, popcorn, and various other refreshments were donated by students and then sold for the bands benefit. The parents of the band students were directly in charge of the1 affair. This is another of the series of projects sponsored by them for the trip. B.Y. The students from the Y seeking a chance at state will be, in debate, Dave Wilkinson and Nancy Briggs, Gene Speakman and Gary Johnson, Bob Edwards and Dick Vance, Todd Bntsch and Carolyn Watts, Dale Roberts and Joyce Gibby, Jan Gilchrist, Carol Gleason and Ann Romney.
