High. vice-preside- CLUB NEWS... Today ends one of the most exciting election weeks in the history of the school. The first night, a week ago, Wednesday, the candidates were neck to neck in their efforts to get the campaigns off to a good start. The library was filled with the candidates and their friends, who were painting posters, cutting, and some of them even going so far as to think up ideas. It was a tired and bedraggled group that left the school a little after eleven, but they had done an excellent job of decorating the still echoing halls of the old Y High. The ideas and methods of campaigning have been varied and original. One of the most clever bit of advertising were the caricatures of Dick that were seen throughout the buildings. (Of special interest might be the fact that Dick did these himself.) They were done as silhouettes and pasted any place that it was thought that one might look. Another piece of campaign that attracted the attention of all was the big blue arrow of the Blue Party that pointed to the names of the party candidates. This has been an election where the student body are really definite about which of the parties they are rooting for. Diane Blackham really hit the nail on the head when she said, I think they know who they want and how they want it. However, the rooters have been pretty well divided between the two parties. Dick Boyle, candidate for on the White party stated, The Y is really looking forward to a great year and I think the assemblies will play a big part in making it so. I will try my best to make those assemblies the kind that the kid most want. The campaign has really been fun, and may the best man win. Forrest Allred, candidate for on the Blue party says: Lets get everyone into the school spirit, making this school a democratic and fun loving group Vice-Preside- nt nt; ct Vice-Preside- nt; NOTICE vice-preside- JUNIOR HIGH vice-preside- non-memb- ers , nt; nt; |
