Fishing is open now and this will give many of us added opportunity to get of the house during the holidays and on weekends. Here in Daggett County, Flaming Gorge Reservoir remains open to angling, as it always has; but very few people take advantage of some unpredictable, but often times, very good fishing. Last winter, after freezing up, there were quite a few lake trout (also called macks or mackinaw) taken on the Manila side of the resevoir, and some got up close to the 30 pound mark. Pressure was very light and almost all the fishermen were locals. Fishing at that time of the year is almost exclusively jigging if youre after macks, but rainbow fishing is best in shallower water using bait. There are special regulations covering winter fishing so be sure to check a proclamation before going out. An example of a special regulation is that, at Flaming Gorge, Fish Lake and Bear Lake, an ice hole can be up to 18 inches in any dimension this differs from other waters where the maximum is 12 inches. An American Express company By Eben Over $150 billion dollars is managed by Americas financial planners. One out of every 20 U.S. households uses a financial planner, and close to ten million households are interested in doing so. Industry experts place the number of people calling themselves financial planners between 50,000 and 200,000. Many CPAs and insurance agents consider themselves fi- MORTGAGE ASSOCIA- I year-roun- 1 the bill because it would lower the standards for common carrier and it doesnt treat all truckers equally. Sand and gravel carriers are being deregulated while other carrier regulations are being phased out. The smaller local trucking companies would be hurt by the move, said McKee in a report to the Community Council. He expects his business to drop by a third if the bill passes. In 1984 seven carries in the Uintah Basin spent $10,443,000 on wages, $551,000 on tires, $2,151,000 for fuel, $739,483 on insurance and $5,442,000 on miscellaneous expenditures. The problem fishing here at this time of the year is, of course, the weather. If we have any wind at all it gets pretty unbearable and not much fun when the chill factor gets below zero. But if you are fortunate enough to catch a nice day, this reservoir can be especially beautiful during the winter and you can count on having the place to yourself. A word of caution though there are no scheduled patrols on the reservoir during the winter, so be especially mindful of your gas supply, battery condition, etc. Every so often someone has to spend a night out unintentionally, and fortunately when this has happened they have been prepared. The Green River below the dam is also open to fishing, but here again, the pressure is so light I have no way to judge success. I would venture a guess, though, and say that someone using a black jig, a small rapala or a bright spinner could catch enough fish to make the trip worthwhile. Dont forget there are special regulations on this river so again check your proclamation. One last comment your license expires at the end of the year, so be sure to pick a new one up. People contemplating engaging a financial planner want to be sure they find one whos both honest and competent. To help, the International Association for Financial Planning has proposed a watchdog organization for the industry. The group would exist under the Security and Exchange Commission umbrella. Another proposal calls for individual state regulation. Other regulation specifics come directly from industry leaders. One of the strongest advocates of industry regulation is IDS Financial Services, the nationwide financial services firm established in 1894. This industry leader promotes stricter Many families may be better able to plan their finances once financial planners are efficiently regulated. financial planning regulations from coast to coast, and pushes for specific laws regulating investment advisers, as well as a universal definition of the term financial planner. In addition, the company advocates uniform federal and state regulations for all financial planners. It proposes licensing at the state levels based on a national exam covering ethical standards and legal requirements. The scope of financial planning is and its effects are Its important a climate of careful regulations exists to protect consumers and allow ethical financial planners to continue to provide quality services.
