The loss drops the Utes to a mark. The Uintah Ute jumped out to a 0 lead in the first quarter when Gordon Limb scored on a quarterback sneak. Springville tied the game up in the second quarter on a touchdown run by Steve Taylor and added an extra point kick for a 6 lead over the UinUtes. tah A two-poi- 14-1- 2-- 4 6-- 7-- The Utes recovered a Springville .fumble and gained the ball on the Red Devils 33. A pass was dropped by a receiver and quarterback Limb was sacked on the 38 yard line. Springville took over the football at their own 39. The Red Devils were pushed back to the 31 when Russell k Augustus decked a Springville fora loss. The Utes put a big rush on Springville quarterback Ryan Ollerton, but he got rid of the ball to Drew Mathews, who broke away from his defenders and marched 69 yards for a touchdown score with 1:05 to go in runn-ingbac- the second quarter. The Utes just barely missed getting the quarterback for a sack. The extra point kick by Danny Small gave the Red Devils lead at the end of the first half. a Springville received the second half opening kickoff and Taylor put in a good run to the Springville 49. James Risbon stopped a Red Devil runner for a loss at the 42 and the Utes put heavy pressure on the quarterback. A penalty pushed Springville back to the 29 yard line. k The Ute defense decked a and Kevin Owens recovered a Springville fumble at the 24 yard line. Brian Southam advanced the ball to the 20 yard line, but the Utes were pushed back to the 22. A fourth down pass was incomplete and Springville took over the football at their own 22 yard line. 14-- 6 runn-ingbac- Andy Mulville broke up a pass and then the Utes sacked quarterback Ollerton at the 13 yard line. The ball was bobbled by the punter in the end zone, but he got the punt off and Uintah took over the ball at its own 48 yard line. Quarterback Limb carried the ball ten yards to the Springville 42 and Derrik Tollefson snared a pass at the 34. Bobby Fitts scampered 16 yards up the middle for a first down at the 17 yard line. John Silcox pocketed a 13 yard pass at the Springville 4, but a holding call wiped out the aerial and put Uintah at the 28 yard line. Running plays by Limb and Fitts put the Utes at the seven yard line, but the Utes were unable to get a first down and Springville regained the ball. The score at the end of the third quarter was 14 to 6 in favor of Springville. The fourth quarter started off with a big bang for the Uintah Utes when Silcox shot down the Springville offense with an interception at the Uintah 46. A long run by Limb moved Uintah into Springville territory and a pass catch by Brian Oscarson gave the Utes a first down at the 20 yard line. Rhadd Wilier ripped up the middle four yards to the 16 yard line, but a penalty knocked Uintah back to the 21. A pass interference call against Springville advanced Uintah to the 11 yard line. Wilier dashed up the middle to the 4 and Fitts carried the ball to the 3. Fitts gave Springvilles defense fits when he dashed around the right side three yards for a Uintah touchdown with 7:44 left in the game. Fitts caught a pitch during a conversion attempt, but was stopped short of the goal line, which made the score two-poi- burned as Ralph Thorne snared a 41 yard bomb at the Ute nine yard line. Springvilles quarterback passed the ball over the head of receiver in the end zone, but he hit Thorne at the three yard line. However, the Utes broke up a fourth down pass and gained control of the ball at the 3. Wilier gave the Utes a first down at the 16 yard line on a ten yard run, but the Utes were pushed back to the 9. Fitts turned in a nine yard run and placed Uintah at the 18 yard line. The Utes decided to go for a first down on a fourth down play and were dropped for a loss at the 14 yard line. Greg Miner carried the ball to the Ute 8. Springville attempted a field goal from the 20 yard line, but it was way short. Uintah gained the ball with 33 seconds left at the 20 yard line, but Limb was sacked at the 11 yard line and Ollerton intercepted a pass to make the final score: Springville, 14 and Uintah, 12. The Uintah Ute sophomores will battle Payson on the road, October 16 and will battle Moffat County High School in Craig, October 19. Uintahs sophomore team will host Spanish Fork, October 24. 14-1- The Utes attempted an onside kick, but Springville held on to the bouncing ball at the 50 yard line. Just ahead of Frost is former world champion, Charles Sampson of Los Angeles, Calif., at $47,187. Elk Ridge, Utah cowboy, Lewis Feild, with relatives in Vernal, is one of the top stars in the Pro Rodeo standings. Feild leads the bareback riding at $64,051 and is ranked number 16 in the saddle bronc riding at $25,627. Feild is also the number two cowboy at $90,311. Feild was the number one cowboy for most of the season, but Clay OBrien Cooper of Gilbert, Ariz., passed Feild and moved into first place. Cooper has earned $92,112. He is also the leader in in team roping with Jake Barnes of Bloomfield, N.M., at $65,108. Dar Haskins of nearby Maybell, is number eight in the bareback riding at $32,359. Former Steamboat Springs cowboy J.C. Trujillo is number ten and Mickey Young, who is originally from Wellington, is number 17.
