Show R P E P PA R D VICE November 1, 1928. Associated Beehive Seed Growers Of The Uintah Basin Host of the Uintah Basins 1928 alfalfa seed crop has now been threshed and sold. A few of ns are still waiting for favorable threshing weather and a few who have threshed are waiting for higher prices. The information we are getting indicates that conditions are mnch the same in other alfalfa seed producing localities. In Hillard county, for instance, practically all of th!e seed is now sold. Central and Eastern trade in alfalfa has been fair to good during the past month but seems to have slackened during the past ferw days. It would seem that dealers have bought some seed against their probable spring needs but do not care to stock up very much at present prices .If that is the case they will not be likely to buy heavily again until the beginning of the new year. In other words, whatever money we put into alfalfa seed' from now on will most likely have to stay in alfalfa seed until some time after January 1, 1929. On the other hand, if you have sold us your seed, or if you sell it NOW, we have ample time to get it ready for resale. Host likely we have seed on hand that matches it so that it can be cleaned and to require extra work, put directly into a carlot bulk. If it is going we have time now to run it several times. In other words, we can save all the seed in it. The MAIN IDEA is to HAVE IT BEADY EOB THE TBADE and GET IT SOLD and PLANTED BETOEE the 1929 CBOP COMES ON THE MARKET. Alfalfa seed at $19.00 per cwt. is too expensive to carry over. ' We Still Offer For Alfalfa Seed NO. 3 $19.00 per cwt. $14.50 per cwt. NO. 4 $10.00 $17.00 Extra No. 1, 5 per cent over No. 1 PBICES SUBJECT TO CHARGE WITHOUT HOTICE The nature of our business requires that we sell as we buy. If we cannot sell we cannot buy at these prices. who goes to ask for payment, the cost of the gasoline he bums, and the wear and tear on his car. We lose all this just because we are accommodating. FAITH IN HUMAN NATURE IS THAT FAIR? Our faith in human nature is in danger of becoming greatly weakened. During the past seven ytears we have extended liberal credit to our Uintah Basin friends. We have furnished seed fcr planting, bags for threshing, money to pay expenses, etc., because we believed that the folks who got them appreciated the accommodations and would pay the money when it was due. Now we axe having to ask a lot of folks to pay us what they should pay without us asking. And that is not all, we have to ask several times before we get payment. usually They have had the use of our money when they needed it, for the asking. We are out the use of the money and we have the expense of writing letters and statements. We axe out the time of the man Duchesne Now we recently sent out some statements on some of these accounts. seems to us that the least any of these folks who have owed the matter. If they do not we may be forced to go to extreme us for a long time can decently do is to come in and see us about It measures. We need the money. Eight now we axe trying to maintain good prices for your alfalfa seed. As we stated above seed markets axe not strong at prices based on $19.00 here. The money due us here in the basin will pay for 'quite a pile of seed even at $19.00 for No. 1, and help just that much to maintain, the market, The fellow who owes us and is not paying, is holding out mouey that should he buying seed right now and keeping the market good.
