What is Intended to be one tbe biggest industries in tbe section is tbe proposed oil shale development plant, to be erected in tbe eastern part of tbe Uintab Basin, on the line, in the worlds richest and most abundant oil shale deposits. Speaking of the plant the Denver News has the following to say: The largest oil shale development plant in the world will be erected for western Colorado and eastern Utah, if plans of the U company. But these are fact3 which Uintah Basto should boast of. The process of taking oil from this shale is older than th process of drilling wells for oil flows. We are the ones who deserve the advantages of this big resource. The N. T. Davis of Vernal, who has large shale holdings in Uintah Basin, is of the opinion that a successful result of the experiment is the treason for the proposed plant. It is estimated that the plant would handle 25,000 to 50,000 ons of shale per day, turning out about 25,000 to 50,000 barrels or high grade oil per. day. This would mean the employment of about people, making the largest settlement in the Basin.
