what he termed a visit to President Reagan’s woodshed Thursday Stockman said Reagan rejected his offer to quit for having expressed doubts about the administration’s economic program Stockman said he tendered his resignation in a Oval Office meeting with a "very chagrined” president who at the end "asked me to stay on the term” He agreed The budget director who grew up on a farm said the session reminded him of "a visit to the woodshed after supper” He said he told the president that “I have one and that is to dispel any notion” that he purpose does not have faith in the program he designed as the president’s top budget planner “I deeply regret any harm that I’ve done” Stockman said adding: "lam grateful for this second chance to get on with the job the American people sent President Reagan to do” Following Stockman's appearance at a White House news conference reporters were given an official statement which said Reagan “expressed his grave concern and disappointment” in the land LOGAN Utah Charles (AP)— State Sen Bullen says that Tuesday he will reintroduce a biD to have the state buy 5000 feet of land on Bear Lake’s east shore The Legislature is scheduled to reconvene in special session Tuesday to work on a redistricting plan vetoed by Gov Scott M Matheson Bullen’s bill passed the Senate Oct 29 in an earlier special session but in the House it failed by five votes Bullen said he now has a better legal description of the land He said he has also agreed to a modification of the bill calling for a purchase price of 15 million to be appropriated to the statc now but returned to the treasury in three years through the sale of surplus state property There is property owned by the state now that is much less desirable than the Bear Lake land and some of that could be sold to pay for more desirable property” Bullen said As for the lake front land Bullen said ‘‘It’s just too good a deal to pass up It is virtually virgin country not all built up We don't have to condemn it and we have willing sellers Bullen said the state division of parks and recreation has listed the land as the highest priority of any property for parks acquisition He said it
