6- and run for begin at 8 a m participants of all agrs iB Kart at the south entrance of the park AFnsbee tournament for people old or ywnger will get underway at 10 a m Another Fnsbee tournament for adults will lie held at Noon At 2 p m the Frisliee contests go to the dogs as a Championship Canine Catch Tournament begins Volleyball tournaments will begin at 11am for A 1 intern ted plavers Two stages will lie at the celebration and they will be the home of entertainers and historic al ipeakers throughout the day The North Cache Junior High School Band will lead off the agrmia of entertainers Among the other groups performing will be a gmup of Primary children from the IDS Digan But and Central Stakes singing pioneer songs Members of the Old Company Lync Repertory from The Fantastuks T he Pxkleville Playhouse will also present skits A "Wire Choir” from Logan High Schcxil will Perform Musical acts by the Mike Christiansen Family and the Larry Smith Family are slated The Ogden LDS Institute Clog Dancers will person and the Hales will present a Fiddlers Family program of Bluegrass music Jim Groutage will also ill perform sketches songs In addition to musical entertainment Stage Two will be the site of several historical lectures throughout the day At 1 p m George Ellswotth a professor of history at USU and a noted Western American Historian will discuss topics related to the Mormon Pioneer trek honcal sPakers and story-tellewill in clude Ross Peterson the head of USU’s History Department and local radio personality Arvin Christensen Douglas Alder director of USU’s Honors Program will also tell pioneer stories The Cache Valley Quarterhorse Association will will sponsor horse races a! the beginn-in- g fairgrounds at 1 pm It will be the largest horse racing event of the year in Cache Valley Logan will wind up its festivities with a dance at 9 p m at the fairgrounds The popular-styl- e music will be provided by “Black Diamond” and 1 per person is required for admission On the west side of Cache Valley residents and visitors will be treated to a celebration in Mendon The festivities get underway at 6:30 am on the Mendon Town Square with an outdoor breakfast At 9 a m the gazebo will be the site of a patriotic program A ceremony will open the program which will feature the performance of a community choir AJ Simmonds a Cache Valley historian and curator of USU’s Special Collections archives will also speak The patriotic program will also be the scene for a contest for local residents The residents will be encouraged to speak on “Why I Love America” or “Why I Love Mendon" ” At 10 45 a m a will begin e The open rate will cover a course The Mendon parade will take place on Main Street at 11 a m will take At the City Building a quilt-tyin- g place All who are interested are invited to join in and work on the quilt until it is finished The City Building will also be the site of a Bazaar and Bake Sale which will be conducted from p m A movie will be shown in the City Building at 3 p m and 6 pm They Went Thal-a- Way and Thai-a- -
