Saturday she all-arou- nd won top state honors in the vault, second in the uneven parallel bars and third in the floor excersize. Review Sports Editor After staying away from gymnastics for nearly a year, Kim Peterson vaulted e her way into a finish in the competition Friday at the State 4A gymnastics meet at Alta High School. Saturday in individual tition Peterson took top state honors in the vault, second in the uneven parallel bars and third in the floor excersize Beverly Snell, a sophomore from e Davis, snatched a finish on the uneven parallel bars Saturday. Davis took eighth place in the team competition with 84.25 , Viewmont finished ninth with a .score of 78.10, and Bountiful View-mon- ts third-plac- third-plac- , . was 12th with 52 points. West Jordan won the state team title with 180.30 points. Kim had a super meet, except for the beam, Viewmont coach and Debbie Hill (gymnastics coaches at Brigham Young University) to offer her a scholarship on the spot right after the meet, Knowlton added. Petersons high finishes at the state meet are even more impressive because she left gymnastics almost entirely alone after last years state competition until the start of the season this year. Most gymnasts work on , School. The Grade School Meet is a part of the Youth Track Program begun by the Bountiful Jaycees in 1983 as their most recent committment to youth activities in the South Davis Area. The Meet was originally planned to be conducted at Viewmont High School, but because water damage still makes the field it has been moved to Bountiful High. The Grade School Track Meet is open to all boys and girls from the 3rd grade through the 6th grade. The competition will be in all track and field events. The running events include WAREHOUSE CLEARANCE Bonneville used three goals by Billy Luna and one each by four others to steam past last place Roy. The Royals only score came on a penalty kick as Laker goalies Dave Bush and Brad Allen turned the Royals back all game long. When she is a junior and a senior, she will place in more than just one area in state, Brown said. Snell also finished in 10th place in the vault and the floor excersize. Bev had an excellent year, Davis coach Mike Brown said. The competition was different for her because she had only competed outside of school competition.
