I FLOOD CONTROL cannot help it if some people are so stupid they build in canyons, on mountain sides, and on river banks. It is very similar to the people who buy a house next to the airport and then complain about the noise. 2. GARBAGE BURNING I refuse to be stuck PLANT with horrendous bills for my one little can of garbage. 3. EMISSION CHECK One of the most asinine decisions, as the 10,000 people who live outside Davis County and work at Hill AFB and Freeport Center, drive 5 days a week (no emission check) while I have to have an emission check to go to the grocery store once a week. I think Davis County will notice a drop in vehicle registrations as many people I have talked to, are having relatives scot-fre- e. ty tax Notice: $284.04. Hoorah for the people pushing the Head tax. My two children have not attended Davis County Schools since 6667, and when they did, the federal grant forms were submitted each year. Why should I and the childless people have to subsidize families with 5 to. 10 children? If you recall the TV special, Utah childbirth is on a level with the register their vehicles in Ogden or elsewhere. One family is registering all 5 of their vehicles in southern Utah. It is such a lopsided farce that I cant blame them. One article indicated If additional money, is required to set up a fancy office and hire people as paper shufflers it would have to come from a mill levy added to the property tax. Here WE Go Again what about the renters and transients who belch smoke? Why should I have to pay for an office to process their checks? 4. WATER Davis Co. Tax Notice: Weber Basin water $6.36. Clearfield City: Cost based on usage. Water pressure on Terrace Drive is a sore subject and has been for years. We pay TWICE and still do not have enough water, in the summer months to flush a toilet, let alone water yards or run washing machines. If the burn plant goes in, it will take 93,000 gallons of water each day. Then when they connect up 72 new apartments one block north of Terrace, we will be down to dribbles, 'h of which Third World countries who dont know any better. Davis County 6. SEWER Tax Notice: $15.77 North Davis Sewer. Clearfield City Bill: $11.50 Sewer. Just whose sewer is it? Or is it double taxation?? I think what we need and what we are getting closer to each year, is a good old Boston Hallie . Post Tea Party. Clearfield R3G!IEY MARKET (5 a) Dll a(sSm ANNUAL YIELD EFFECTIVE Need Tighter Drug Rules Review Editor: I think the Davis County School District should have harder rules on junior and high school students who get caught with drugs, because they just tell them not to do it again, and they just do it over and over again. I know a couple people who take drugs and they havent even got caught and they are late for classes and are always getting in to trouble. I go to a junior high school and I know of only one person who was caught and he got away with it, and hardly got into trouble. I hope some day they come out with stricter rules because it will just get worse. And more and more people will be doing When you purchase a 6 month Money Market Certificate of $5,000 or more. Review Editor: I wish to object to the unfortunate wording in a sentence contained in the article Effects of Family Changes On Children Studied By Educator page 18 of Lakeside Review, Wed. Sept. 21, 1983. The sentence which I object to is Now the average family moves once every three or four years, 50 percent of all marriages can plan on ending in divorce.... I suspect that it is the writers mistake because the sentence and thought arent good. A marriage cant plan anything. I imagine Dr. McVaugh is embarrassed by it. I think it needs to be corrected so I am pointing it out. Psychologically it is poor. A marriage cant plan on divorce. People plan things.. People should never plan on divorce. People can plan and work to prevent divorce. Officials may OGDEN make up a prognosis or hypothesis of what might happen in the future but Dr. McVaugh isnt talking about the future in that sentence. He is talking about The Lakeside Review encourages letters to the editor as a way of allowing citizens to speak out.f ' However, the Review is respon- sible for what is printed in the paper and will not publish letters which are deemed to be libelous or in bad taste. So the planning or lack of it in the past has already produced the 50 percent he is citing. He admits we cant go back to the past, but I would suggest that if everyone planned and worked to make a successful marriage now, it would go a long way towards helping society and the family. It is a bad thing for people to accept that 50 percent of the marriages are breaking up. It is better to say 50 percent are succeeding. That means if we all try harder we can find ways to do better.
