Added to more than $4 million the center has received for buildings in the last two years, the funding would be a major gov- ernment effort through training to lower unemployment rates. The popularity of the center among Davis and Morgan County secondary students and adults is reflected in the high number who apply for admission. Of 2,400 students enrolled at 450 comthe center in 1981-8pleted various programs in auto body, business, diesel mechan-ics- , electrical, electronics, farm management, health occupation, machine shop, nursing, painting, math', welding, agriculture and homemaking. Shell said of the 450 graduates, 94 transferred to college, 323 found employment in their field and only 33 have not found jobs. This was a placement ratio of about 93 percent, said Shell. However, the center received an 1 1 percent cut in its operating budget last year and was asked by Governor Scott Matheson to send back any excess funds left over this year. Shell sent a letter to Matheson recently explaining the center did not have any leftover funds. At an upcoming State Board of Education meeting, priority lists for statewide education funding will be announced. Shell said the DAVC was at the bottom of the priority list last year but received $2 million from the legislature.
