We got two telephone calls on May 24 1972 One was from Bogota with the all clear to bring the baby home One was from Washington DC informing TK that HE was to s be the Control Officer for Mr to Peru and upcoming visit therefore could not leave the country for two weeks!to the Colombian Another visit Consul gave me a certified power of attorney so that I could legally sign TK’s name anywhere in Col-to ombia I caught the next plane Bogota Just before I boarded the airplane I thought of an important matter TK and I had failed to discuss “Hey” I yelled over the noise of the engines “What shall we name our daughter?” “Name her ‘Kristen’ or ‘Barbara’” shouted TK There were no problems once I arrived in Bogota Twelve hours after I arrived in the country I was in the office of the director of the agency Ten minutes after that I was holding a bouncing pouty squirming baby on my lap She looked like a “Kristen” The first time I looked at her she was a complete stranger I blinked and she was MINE!
