To ensure that the submissions can be read, they MUST ALL BE NEATLY TYPED on an Wz by 11 sheet of paper. Legion Auxiliary Nine members of the American Legion Auxiliary met at the La Salle May 24th for their closing meeting of the season. President Marg. Benash presided over the meeting. After the preamble was recited, secretary Arlene Chavez read the minutes from the last meeting. Mrs. Benash reported on the district convention she attended in Moab. Others attending from here were Mary Vigor and Isabelle Marshall. New officers were installed at the convention. The ones from here holding offices are Isabell Marshall, president and Mary Vigor, secretary. The Auxiliary donated $75.00 to the American Legion Baseball Assc. In the absence of Poppy Day chairman Mary Lupo, a report was given on the poppy sales by Arlene Chavez. She stated that it was a big success and she would like to thank everyone for being so generous and supporting this worthy cause. She also thanked the ladies who sold poppies. Beth Zupon was installed as historian for the Auxiliary. She will keep a scrapebook of all the activities and etc. the Auxiliary is involved in for the coming 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Sunnyside Park. parents and supare porters urged to attend this meeting as election for next years officers will be held. The club has been active the past year in supporting athletes at East Carbon High and boosting community spirit and parAll ticipation. Dog Show The Castle Country Kennel Club is sponsoring its Third Annual Kids Show on June 9, 1984 at Pioneer Park. Children 14 years old and younger are invited to compete for prizes and ribbons. Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. with com- petition starting at 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $2.00 for the first J class and 50 cents for each class thereafter. All dogs must be restrained on a leash. Competition will be in the following classes: Littlest Dog: Dogs will be placed on a scale and weighed. The littlest dog will win. Largest Dog: Each dog will be measured from the ground to the dogs shoulder. The largest dog will win. Costume Class: The audience will shoose the dog with the best costume. Best Trick Dog: Audience response will choose the winner for this class. Best Groomed Dog: Make sure that your dog is bathed and brushed for this class. Best Behaved Dog: Participants will be asked to make their dogs sit, lie down and heel on the leash in this class. e Class: This class is for the dog who looks the most like his owner. The audience will choose the winner. Best In Show: Winners from all previous classes compete for the best dog in the show. Look-a-lik- year. The members signed and sent a card to Ada Riche who had surgery but is recovering. The next meeting will be held in Sept, the place to be announced later. La Leche League. This months meeting will be held on Thursday, June 7th at 7:30 p.m. at house 11 in the Village next to Notre Dame School. The discussion for the evening will include encouragement and information on how to establish a happy nursing relationship. Professionals who work with pregnant and nursing mothers are also urged to attend. For further information call 637-337- 6. Square Dance Club Attention all square dancers. The Coal Contry Square Dance is making plans for a summer of dancing and invitations are open for all dancers to join in the festivities. A party for the graduating class will start with a pot luck supper followed by graduating Club special dance on June 15th at 8:00 p.m. Place to be announced and dancing at Reeves School. Ken Lucky Packer, Salt Lake City, will be calling a Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. during the dance outside summer. We encourage all dancers to join us in a summer of fun. Spectators welcome. We also plan to join ip the activities of other clubs. We are happy to have Lela Thacker as our new secretary and Faro Anderson as the new treasurer. An entry for the International Days Parade was discussed and assisting. The Concerned Retired Miners of District 22, U.M.W.A., will hold their regular meeting Thursday, June 7, 1984 at 1:00 p.m. in the Karl Peterson Senior Citizens Center. They will be discussing many subjects that wUl be of interest to all who attend the meeting.
