Show Sun Advocate O Wednesday, August ID, 1903 BMX racers take to the track horKidpower replaced in Saturdays bicycle sepower motocross race at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. The whir of bicycle pedals did nothing to drown out the screams of excited parents as they watched their kids soar over jumps and skid around banked curves in the blistering afternoon heat. Close to 50 kids ages 5 to 15 entered the race sponsored by The Bike Route of Price. The track was constructed much especially for bicycles like an official motocross track and was complete with hills, tight curves and jumps. Little Michael McGlothlin, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGlothlin of Price, was awarded a special ribbon for his courageous efforts. Michael took a nose dive off the first jump early Saturday during practice runs. Despite a bloody nose and some scratches, Micael refused to give up and continued his racing efforts. Winners in the 5-- to division were Shay Lewis, first; Doug Callor, second; and Chad Tatton, third. In the - to division, Zachary Aiman took first with Tony Amast in second and Cory Jarvey third. John Gitlin captured first place in the 12- - to division with Travis Cooms in third and Matt Huff fourth. In the 15 and over division, Craig Atwood nabbed first place with Greg Riddle second and Mitch Hadden third. Cally Callor received a special ribbon for her efforts as the only girl in the competition.
