K. - Mary Cunningham Mary Kos Strakey, at a hospital here She was bom March 22, 1915 in Reliance, Wyo., to John and Mary Rihtarsic 12, 1982 18, CITY Mary Frances CunSpring Glen, died Aug. 12, 1982 in a hospital here from injuries she suffered in an automobile accident last week. She married John Strakey Sept. 30, 1939 in Salt Lake City. He died July 25, 1948. A resident of Carbon County since 1918, she was secretary of SNPJ Lodge No. 296 of Spring Glen. Survivors include two sons, Allen J., and George J., Manuel J. Cun ha - HUNTINGTON Manuel Joseph Cunha, 73, Huntington, died here Aug. 15, 1982. He was bom Aug. 27, 1908 in Castle Dale to Joseph and Rose Hannah Davis Cunha. He married Ruth Johnson April 4, 1931 in marriage was Their later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She survives. A member of United Mine Workers of America for 37 years, he had been employed many years at the Hiawatha Mine. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Judy) Douglas, Huntington, and Mrs. Brent (LeVea Kay) Ohlwiler, West Valley City; six grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Arno, Price, Zenna Webb, Houston, Texas, and Vada Scurlock, Shreveport, La.; and one brother, James Athal of Idaho. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Huntington LDS First Ward chapel where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Huntington City Cemetery. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday at the Spring Glen LDS Ward chapel. Burial was in Price City Cemetery. Fausett Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Thomas J. and Mary Jane Spens Burnside. He married Prele LuDean Blackham Dec. 16, 1931 in the Manti LDS Temple. She survives. A resident of Kenilworth the past 52 years, he worked in local mines for 42 years before his retirement in 1965. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He enjoyed auto mechanics, watch and TV repair. In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gifford (Sherril) Marchello, Spring Glen; one son, C. Monte, Kaysville; eight grandchildren, Dean, Janice, Colleen, JoAnn, Lana, Lisa, Lori and Kimberly; five Amber, Michael, Debbie, Brandie and Nicole; three brothers, Leonard, Mt. Pleasant, Robert, Burley, Idaho, and Harry, serving an LDS mission in Montana; and one sister, Mary Mower, Fairview. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister, Thomas, Mason, Earl, Mitchell, James and Nellie. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Spring Glen IDS Ward chapel. She was bom June 15, 1895 in San Francisco, Calif., to John and Mary Kokal Vuksinick. She married John Skerl Sr. Nov. 11, 1911 in Salt Lake Gty. He survives. A resident of Carbon County since 1900, she was a member of the Catholic Church and the American Glen Lodge No. 168. Fraternal Union-SprinIn addition to her husband, survivors include one son, John M., Spring Glen; three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Ann) Kosec and Mrs. Floyd (Tina) Lemlock, both of Spring Glen, and Mrs. Donald (Helen) Bittner, Jenner, Calif.; three brothers, Frank, Louis and Rudy, all of Spring Glen; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Helper. Holy rosary will be recited at the church prior to Mass. Friends may call Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price and Friday prior to Mass at the church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. Saccomanno, 59, Helper, died Aug. 14, 1982 at Castleview Hospital. He was born May 17, 1923 in Spring Glen to Ralph and Maria Theresa Petestio Saccomanno. He married Christine (Chris) Kontas July 24, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives. A lifelong resident of Carbon County, he was a retail grocer in Helper for 39 years. He was former of R and A Market. He was a member of the Carbon Country Gub and Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony chapter. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kenn (Cindy) Acklin and Mrs. Andrew (Terri) Lasslo, both of Helper; two brothers and four sisters, Charlie Saccomanno, Spring Glen, Joe Saccomanno, Mrs. Tony Priano and Mrs. John (Mary) Columbo, all of Helper, Mrs. Ray (Genna) Larcher, Price, and Mrs. Joe (Pauline) Lepore, Midvale. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim. Mass of the Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Helper. Holy rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Helper. THURSDAY, (Car-mell- a) Ralph Geno Gomez SALT LAKE CITY Ralph Geno Gomez, 29, Price, died Aug. 14, 1982 in a hospital here. Mr. Gomez was seriously injured in a coal mining accident four years ago and was paralyzed from the neck down. Last year, he was awarded $3.5 million in an settlement, the largest settlement of its kind in Utah history. He was bom Aug. 2, 1953 in Kenilworth to Ben and Dolores Gonzales Gomez. He married Shirley Miller Nov. 2, 1973 in Butzb-zcGermany. She survives. A resident of Carbon County since his birth, he was employed by Braztah Corp. until the mining accident. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Jehovah Witness Church. A graduate of Carbon High School, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1971 to rt 1973. In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Urijah Geno Gomez, IMce; parents, formely of Helper; brothers, David, Pat, Chris, Leo and James; and sisters, Theresa, Benita, Bemadine, Berdine and Irene. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Friends may call Wednesday, Thursday and Friday prior to services. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
