One winner will receive an trip to the national competition. Endowment for the Humanities, the State Office of Education, Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and the Utah Historical Society. Fair director Shannon R. Hoskins said all students in Utah are expected to take history courses. By using local history resources available in their communities and the expertise of people they know, teachers can introduce students to a unique, participatory experience, she said. Through this exercise, history becomes more personal, less remote and even fun. Each exhibit is judged separately as well as within one of three age divisions: elementary division, grades 4 and 5; junior division, grades 6 through 8; and senior division, grades 9 through 12.
