Today, companies must be citizens as well as merchants. Good citizenship applies to business as well as to individuals, said Sears Price store manager Carolyn Lucas. A good citizen invests in the future of the community for personal and community benefit. Business, too, must become a constructive force in the community that supports it. One of Sears most important examples of good corporate citizenship is supplying quality goods and services at fair prices, Mrs. Lucas said, but citizenship is more than honest business conduct, quality merchandise at fair prices and equitable personnel policies. Being a corporate citizen means participating voluntarily in community activities and investing time and money in the future of the community. Sears, of course, is not new to Price.
