Show 6 Frida y , May 8,J981 Sun Advocate, Price Utah Dino girls nab region crown Grabbing 13 first place medals enroute to a 200 plus point performance, the Carbon lligh Girls track team dominated the Region VI track meet Wednesday in Spanish Fork. The Carbon boys team finished second with 116 points, behind the 152 - point performance of Spanish Fork. The Dino girls racked up 212 points, with the nearest competitor Payson at 97 points. The next destination for the Dino tracksters is the cinder lanes at Weber State for the State 3A championship next Friday and Bunnell, Jonna Olson and Pam Heinz for a first place in the 400 -- Saturday in Ogden. Track coach Charlene Dupin said the girls should be favored to win, while the boys team is heading toward a probable top five finish, she said. I think on Wednesday we had a real team effort. I know the girls goal was ?no points and reaching that was just outstanding, Dupin said. Micah Barnett shook off the cold and windy weather to blister to first place finishes in the 100 meter, 200 - meter and long jump. She also combined with Karen meter relay. The squad set a region and school record with a clocking. Lisa Larson picked up first place medals in the 1,600 - meter and 51.32 -- 3,200 - meter, with sister Misty right on her tail to capture seconds in both races. Lisa added a first place medal to her trophy case, joining the victorious medley relay team of Bunnell, Hardman and Olson. Misty Larson took a first in the 800 - meter with a time of 2 : 24.25. She also combined with Traci VanWagener, Olsen and Hardman for a win in the mile relay. Bunnell received an individual medal in the 100 - meter hurdles with a first place time of 18.26. Jim Paletta came to the mound to work the Dinos out of the inning. Assisting Paletta in getting the outs for the inning was the defensive play of shortstop Mike Breitenstein. With runners on first and third with one out, Breitenstein elected to gun the runner down who was breaking for home from third after the leadoff batter singled.
