I met him at the front gate and introduced myself. He said he is Dale Dawson from Houston, Texas, and he has been on the Helper police force for about three months. He then walked up to my mom and told her if there is ever anything she needs, just to let them know at anytime. He was making his rounds, on foot, around Helper city. I think that is a terrific way to improve communications between a community and its police force. Keep up the good work, and thank you for all you do. Jerry Norton Something was wrong Editor: Recently, I attended the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant. As we were seated in the balcony, we had a perfect view of the judges. After the announcement of the queen, Utah Seniors Legislature to meet we were all amazed as we Editor: The Utah Seniors Legislature will hold its 10th annual session Sept. 24, 25 and 26. The mock state legislature is scheduled to be held at the Utah State Capitol building and will convene in the chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Prescription drug rebate, fairness in government, state health care and a state respite program are among the items on the agenda for consideration. Bills and resolutions passed by the Utah Seniors Legislature are sent to Utahs state and federal legislators. They did not rise to their feet and applaud the new queen as is customary, but instead rose to their feet and began what appeared to be a heated discussion with the judges chairman, who I understand is the Utah state pageant directors daughter, which in my opinion is in extremely bad taste. One judge was even shaking her finger at the chairman. They were all shaking their heads and looking on the table in front of them as if something was lost. In the end, the chairman walked away from them and a heated discussion began between two of the judges, then the others shrugged their shoulders and walked away. Something was definitely wrong, and I for one would like to know what.
