Gibbs is the assistive technology coordinator for Active and has been trying to provide assistive equipment for clients in the area who cannot get help through normal funding sources. Proceeds from the registration fees will be used to purchase assistive equipment for disabled and recuperating people. The race will feature a 10K run, a 5K walk and a wheelchair divison and begins at 9 a.m. on the College of Eastern Utah track. Registration may be arranged in advance with Terry Gibbs at Active Reentry, and maps of the course are available at Gibbs' office. Although registration is possible the morning of the race, a higher fee will be charged. The race is sponsored by United Way, Coca Cola and the Wellington Running Club. There will be prizes for winners, all participants and win- Re-entr- WE15E Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 7 is funding for equipment, not enough and not all clients qualify for state assistance. She recently asked local residents to search attics and garages for used equipment such as weights, treadmills, stationary bikes and crutches to be donated to the center. Although there was some response, the center needs funds to provide small equipment, such as amplified handsets, to its customers. When state funding is available, there is often a long waiting period and some equipment is needed sooner, Gibbs said. She is hoping the race will provide those fimds. We hope to raise $1,000, which could buy quite a few pieces of equipment, Gibbs said. Bike clinic set Carbon County is sponsoring a bicycle maintenance clinic on May 13 and 16. The clinic will be conducted at The Clubhouse, 140 N. Cedar Hills Drive, at 6:30 p.m. The clinic will help bicycle owners perform routine maintenance on bikes in the field or at home. |
