Saturday, Aug. 4, three Colorado juveniles were arrested after they allegedly assaulted two elderly guards while escaping from the Carbon County Juvenile Detention Center. At about 11:15 p.m., a woman reported her car stolen with her daughter asleep in the back seat. When eight Republican candidates filed for Howard Nielsons old job as Third District Congressman, everyone believed the real race was at the Republican convention. When the most Republican Congressional District in the United States elected Democrat Bill Orton to represent them, Utah Republicans were in shock. Locally, voters managed to tie the vote for school board candidates Richard Tatton and Kam Weighing. County Commissioner Emma Kuykendall broke the tie by drawing Tattons name from a box.
