Show Tuesday, May 29, 1990 Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 9A Slavic festival to feature arts Slavic delicacies, ethnic arts and crafts and polka dancing under the stars all add up to Utah-Slavi- a 90, the eighth annual Slavic festival 6 at the Historic on June 15-1- Old Mill, 6900 Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, just off the 6200 South exit (exit 6) on Tempting Slavic foods such as sarma (stuffed cabbage), klabasa or kolbase (sausage on a bun), barbecued lamb and pork, pirogi (stuffed dumplings) as well as pastries and Turkish coffee will again be featured in the many food booths at the festival R&A market will present a booth at the festival, which is well-attende- County residents. Entertain- ment by the festivals annual sponsor, the Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble, will include folk dances of Yugolsavia and Bulgaria. Guest artists include the Narodna International Dancers, the Rocky Mountian Polka Express, accordionist Rich Roginski and the Oakland tamuritza band, Vesli Seljaci. Additionally, arts and crafts of Eastern Europe such as the exquisitely decorated Ukrainian eggs and Balkan folkcrafts will be available to the public. On Friday, June 1, audi tions will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. for adults 17 and over. On Saturday, June 2, auditions will be held from 9 to 12 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. for children 8 to 16 years of age. Early immigrants to Utah from Yugoslavia came to work as miners in Carbon County and along the Wasatch Front. More recently, emigres from Poland, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union have found new homes here, adding their own rich and diverse cultural heritage to the Utah community.
