Show Thursday, December 3, 1987 Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 9 087 to the editor Thinks recreation department is failing I think our local recreation To the editor: Are Carbon County taxpayers getting their moneys worth out of their recreation department? I think the adult recreation program in this county is a joke. The mens softball league last year started out with four teams and ended the year with three teams, while Emery County had sixteen teams, including five from Carbon County, Carbon County had to have been the only county in the whole state that didnt have a single mens softball tournament Tournaments of any kind are good for the local economy. If only two softball teams came to a local tournament from out of the area, men there would be twenty-tw- o or women and their families staying in local motel rooms, meals in local restaurants, shopping at local eating stores, in general helping our economy. department is extremely poorly managed. The example Ive used with the softball program is just one of many I could use. I would like to see the local people write in their feelings on the recreation so-call- department. Changes are needed now. Bob Hyde Helper Wants Legislature to support nursing To the editor: Many of us in nursing education watch the shortage of nurses increase in Utah and the country with no end in sight With all of its negative connotations to all of you John and Jane Q. Public out there, we wonder why state and federal funding for nursing education is so inadequate, why any state nursing educational program would be terminated that a profession that needs man- and power womanpower hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year in ares where most RNs and LPNs still work hospitals and nursing care centers for the elderly and handicapped. As this legislative session commences in January 1988, we support our legislators and the governor in the big job they face next year and hope that health care, the health professions and health education will not be found wanting when the appropriations are finalized, or we will be at severe quality health care risk for ourselves and those residing within our borders. Royko (Continued from Page 8) Here we have an administration that thinks nothing of lying to us when lies suit its purpose. Shred documents, run secret governments within the government, sidestep the laws, sandbag and hunker down. But it didnt occur to them that if they suddenly told the world that we were going to start shipping the criminals back to Cuba, these same criminals might decide they have nothing to lose, so why not grab some hostages and hold a riot. If were going to have liars running this country, the least we should expect is that they be competent liars. all celebrate DEATH TO AMERICA DAY!!!
