The two perform duets, mostly music heard on the radio that is to familiar but audiences, occasionally throwing in one of the songs written by Barry. Barbara is also becoming well known as a ventriloquist, and the duo enjoy traveling and working together as an extension of their family life. Paul Overstreet, Country Songwriter of the Year, who has written hits including "Forever and Ever Amen" and "I Fell In Love Again Last Night," heard them perform some of Barrys music at Little America, met them after the show and referred them to his publisher at Writers Group in Nashville. After sending several numbers to the publisher they went south to meet her. "Just to have this interest shown in my songwriting has been a real thrill to me," said Barry. "Ive always had a great response (from audiences) but we try to be realistic. Meeting Paul has opened doors for me that I know normally would not be there." have Several publishers the to make Hansens encouraged the move to Nashville so Barry with them, can begin as is done 99 percent of the time, Barbara said. They have three children, Matthew, 10, a student at Taylorsville elementary; Nicole, 5 and Natalie, 3, who love to travel with them and epjoy their music and Barbaras sketches. Barbara strongly in believes Barrys talent and encourages him to stay with it. "I believe he has the talent to write great music," she said. "Im prejudiced of course, but having performed so many years, Im also critical of music and how it comes across. He can and does write as well as some professionals out there, better than some. Hes a natural writer." Barry grew up in the west area, and attended Granger high where he was football captain. Barbara has lived in Bennion the past 15 years. Some years ago, while watching a Miss America pageant she saw a contestant a perform ventriloquism act. It looked like took a so Barbara fun, correspondence course in the art, borrowed all the books on the subject the library had to offer, and practiced, practiced, practiced.
