Hopefully, everyone had a nice break from school, but now its time to get back to work. The Taylorsville football team played a very exciting game against West Jordan last week. The Warat half-timriors were ahead but West Jordan caught up. The game went into three overtimes and finally ended with the Warriors winWay to go, team. ning 14-- 6 31-2- There will be a game at 4 oclock today (Thursday) against Granite. Good luck, guys. I hope to see a lot of support from the student body. The more support our teams get, the better theyll play. So everyone come out to the game. The golf team took second place in the region tournament. The golf team is directed by Coach Leatherwood. The guys had a slow start, but theyre making up for it now. The state tournament was held yesterday. The girls tennis team is still going strong. They took third in region and will be in thestate tournament this weekend. I'd like to wish them the best of luck. The Warrior hockey team is off to a good start. Losing the first game by just one point, but making up for it by winning the second one. Last year the hockey team took second place in state and Im sure theyll do even better this year. Most of the games are played on Thursdays and Saturdays at either Cottonwood Heights or the Salt Palace. The next game is tonight at 8 p.m at Cottonwood Heights, so come support the hockey team after the football game. Taylorsvilles production of 'Brigadoon will be presented Oct. 24, 25 and 27 at 7 p.m. Cast members have been practicing since the end of July and it should prove to be a great show. Tickets are priced at $4 for adults, $3 for children and students with an activity card. Oct. 24 is family night and tickets are priced at $15 per family for up to six family members. All tickets at the door are priced at $5. Students may purchase tickets in the book store before school and during both lunches or call for reservations, You wont want to miss this tremendous production, so get your tickets now. Seniors, dont forget to sign up for Senior Fling. You can get more information from the SBOs and senior class officers. I hope all the hunters get their deer and remember to be careful. 263-360- Jennifer Napier After a nice, long UEA weekend, I hope you're all rested up and ready for all of the excitement of Homecoming week, to be held Oct. 20-2- So many things are going on at Cyprus, so to keep track, heres a list of a few coming attractions. During the week, there will be different dress-u- p days and competition during both lunches. Yes, prizes will be awarded, so get involved. The annual parade down Magna Main is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23. Everyone is invited to participate. That means clubs, special groups, alumni - everyone. Get in touch w'ith the exec council if you have the desire to be included. Following the parade will be a pep rally on the Cyprus football field at about 7 p.m. Cyprus hasnt had one for awhile, so this should be great. Those attending will be in for a few big surprises. Although its titled Homecoming week, Friday, Oct. 24, is the day most dedicated to Cyprus alumni. The events scheduled for Friday include the Homecoming assembly, to be held in the boys gym at 8:45 a.m.; the annual alumni tea at 1 p.m. in the Commons; and the game against Kearns that evening at 7:30. All alumni are invited andwelcome to be included in the days festivities. Oh, also on Friday is the Homecoming run. For those wishing to participate in that, sprint on over to Coaches Coombs or Flanagan for more details. Also to be announced next week is the 1986 Homecoming royalty. An election will be held during fourth period, so be thinking about who most deserves the crown of incumbent king Mike Catten and current queen Susan Lefevre. Okay guys, this is it. The cross country and golf teams are also proving Granger to be outrageous in sports. The past two cross country meets have gone well. The girls team brought home two third places, while the boys brought home a second and a third place. The region finals were held Tuesday at Taylorsville. Golf season is now at a close. The team placed fifth in region with victories over Granite and Kearns. Top golfers include Rick Kockerhans, who held the lowest average of the season; Chris Searle, who qualified for the State finals (both seniors); and two sophomore golfers, Travis Downey and Cody Beagley. both qualifed for the region finals. The final home football game is today ( Thursday ) at 4 : 30. For only the second time this year, Granger will play on the new field.
