Eighty-eigh- t senior citizens received recognition for volunteer service last week during cermeonies carried out at the Magna Senior Citizen Center. Jean Orton, director, said the awards were for a variety of services that included helping with food distribution at the center. June 17 is the deadline for making reservations for the Hunk Finn day picnic at Murray park on the 18th. She said the Magna Center will join with several other centers in the county to go back to being a kid again. Seniors will dress in Huck Finn attire and there will be rafts to race down the creek in the park. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and for the winning crafts. The bus will leave the center at 10 on the morning of the 18th. Transportation will be 75 cents per person and the meal will be $1.25. Next week's menu at the center will feature lemon baked fish with cheese potatoes, mixed vegetables, calico cole slaw and sugar cookies on Monday; baked beans with franks, buttered spinach with fruit cup and vanilla pudding on Tuesday; hoagie sandwich with potato salad, corn on the cob, watermelon and cookies on Wednesday; Swiss steak with mashed potatoes, California mixed vegetables and melon on Thursday; Hawaiian meatballs over rice, cabbage and carrots with mixed fruit and tapioca pudding on Friday. The foundation is dedicated fo finding the causes, cures and better treatment for the more than 250,000 people affected by the disease in Utah.
