Firdays Cyprus-Jorda- n game was a contest played in streaks. First one team would get hot then the other. In such instances, the team that gets hot last usually wins and Frida; night that team was Cyprus. e It was the final game for both teams and, from the way they played, it was obvious each wanted to head into region action tomorrow (Friday) on a positive note. Cyprus will open its league schedule at Granite, while Jordan will entertains Tooele. Both games are set for 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Jordan will travel to West. Jordan sped out to an early lead Friday, but Cyprus came roaring back to post a 8 advantage at the end of the first quarter. It was the Diggers turn in the second quarter, as they finished the half in front SALT LAKE. Despite its flossy 1 preleague record, Judge Memorial is now Just like everyone else in Region Six. The Bulldogs will be out to make that tomorrow (Friday) when they host a West team that has been up and down, but features many of the same athletes that powered their way to the state football championship. On Tuesday the Bulldogs will travel to Murray. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are trying hard to keep their minds off a Jan. 18 3 p.m. visit to South that should give one team a leg up on the region title race. I felt Jordan played really well, complimented Cyprus coach Mark Wilson. But, our kids played just excellent basketball. They seem to be coming along. Chad Sheppick led Cyprus scoring with 18 points, while Todd McKee and Kelly Goodfellow each had 14, Cory Gust 12 and Gerry Sommer 11. In addition, Gust had eight rebounds and a like number of assists and Goodfellow six assists. They will entertain Hillcrest tomorrow (Friday) in their opener, but wont play again until Friday, Jan. 18, when they travel to Brighton. There was little drama Tuesday night after the middle of the second period when Hillcrest outscored visiting Taylorsville 21-2 enroute to a victory, in the league opener for both squads. Hillcrest moves on to Bingham for a key contest tomorrow (Friday) against the unbeaten Miners and then wont play again until Jan. 22. The Warriors will be at home, but meet defending 4A champ Brighton at 7: 30 Friday. Husky coach Jim Jimas felt the first half Tuesday may have been the best his team has played. The same might be said of Taylorsvilles 5 first period when they trailed and the Warirors were playing aggressively, but the visitors didnt have the fire power to stay with the talented Huskies and trailed 4 at the half. It was 8 after three. Hillcrests Todd Crow led all scorers with 24 (9, 6x8). Kevin Rice added 13(4,5x5). Toff Mitchell turned in another solid performance for the Warriors with 22 (11, 0x5).
