All three categories of competition (junior high, jayvee and varsity) were held at the UofU. Judging was based on accuracy and proficiency of eheeringdancing skills, extent of gymnastic ability, projection, double stunts, pryamid building and audience appeal. With the mighty spirit (and an extra inspiration from support of other squads) THS cheerleaders reaffirmed our reputation of excellence. Second place went to Roy high, while the Granger squad captured third place. Our first place trophy is in the display case, so take a glimpse of it on your way to algebra. Our cheerleaders will direct much of their concentration on practices for the Florida competition (in March), but with the expertise coaching of Stacy Squires (who is presently the head cheerleader at the UofU), I'm confident our squad will be prepared for nationals. Our cheerleaders next performance is at the Triad Center at 9 on Monday for the Dickens Christmas festival. The next competition is Saturday. Our cheerleaders and our drill team will compete in the statewide Cyrpus Invitation. The drill team will march in three routines, including a novelty dressed up as ducks. With more than 10 teams competing, I assume it will last all day long, so make an effort to drive out to Cyprus and check out the execution of talent. the competition and during Tonight at -- South Hola It looks like Florida for the fourth year in a row. meet-the-tea- 1 HIGHLIGHT SPECIAL includes shampoo and set 'Midvale Taylorsville Bountiful Salt Lake 33 East 57X2 S. 273 West 3474 561-337- T: did equally well and they, too, received a third place award.
