The dedication from supporters has helped us over the humps and we feel their efforts have made this campaign the opportunity of our lifetime. Mr. Armstrong showed us through his loving counsel how to work together as a family and become closer. His wisdom and compassion enabled us to get through some black times and now we are able to function as a unity. We as a family feel that his ability to bring us peace justly is the main reason he will be the best justice of the peace. W. Craig and Joan Raymond Reject hike . . . Dear editor, The complexity of testimony on the Utah Power and Light hearing before the Utah Public Service Commission last week, along with my time O GS0B schedule, kept me been forced to cut drastically in order to stay in business, but from testifying in person, so I am doing the next best thing in writing this letter to relay to you my feelings on this request. This landmark request, the largest ever in our history, comes at a most ridiculous time. Now, when other businesses and families are just building some confidence on the signs of an economic upswing, any increase in a basic commodity like electricity would fuel the fires of inflation for Utahns like the coal fuels the big turbines in the power plants. I have reviewed the condensed case as sent to me by the company and I can say they appear to justify the request on paper with their figures. But, we can ail justify increases at this time. To ask anybody to cut costs or expenses, and expect them to seriously do it, is an exercise in futility. We have to be faced with the reality that there indeed is no other alternative before we really do it. That is very normal and human. We know of many of the large industries that have ..O we rarely hear of the many smaller entities that have done the same. It is my opinion that the Legislature never intended . . ever . that the public utilities not share the hardships during trying periods. . . Another . question 7B WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, Oct. 28, 1982 that comes to mind with this request. Is it really right for ratepayers to be asked to help finance the original construction of the Hunter plant, and now, after the companys sales? I respectfully urge the commission to do what is right and equitable for the people of the state of Utah and reject the request by UP&L for this outlandprojections appear ish rate increase. They beyond needs, the must be held accountratepayers again are able and your body of asked to subsidize this commissioners is the lack of anticipated only entity to see that they are.
