Show Great-Grandmother- Beautiful Old Dress 's 23 WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, Oct, 14, 1982 Worn Once Again ByAnja Pedersen At T'ville LaRee Pehrson When Anja Pedersen competed for the title of Taylorsville High Homecoming Queen, the dress that she wore appeared to be an ex- clusive designers . model was. . . But it originate priced and so it didnt in a high New York fashion salon. It was a one of a kind creation that was made in a home in Manti by her 80 great-grandmoth- er years ago! At the onset of the competition, Anja was advised that the dress she would wear would be a very important item in the judging. So because she comes from a family of 10 children, she and her mother Karen had to come up with something inexpensive, but good. It was then that they remembered the long, white gown tucked away in the cedar chest, that was not only steeped in tradition but looked like a Gunne Sax model which is so popular now. And holding it up for further scrutiny they saw the beautiful simplicty of the white cotton batiste gown and realized that their search had ended. The dress was made by Ida Farnsworth, who was born April 27, 1880 in Beaver, Utah. It was created for her wedding day, Sept. 12, 1902, when she married Edgar Thomas Reid in the Manti LDS Temple. The wedding dress of Ida Farnsworth Reid was worn by her Anja Pederson, as first attendant to the Homecoming Queen of Taylorsville high this fall. on a treadle sewing through at evenly machine, and pressed spaced intervals.
