Show For Performing Arts Awards . mSTVAlLBYView - Thursday, Apr. 22, 1982 40 Roles Played By Nominees by Michele Donald Robinson turned in an intense yet entertaining performance as Billy Bigelow in Olys Carousel. Troy Davis complemented Miss Murphy very well as Frank Butler, the shooting star of Annie Get Your Gun, with just the right swagger, Bartmess MURRAY. Student actors from 40 roles have been nominated to receive Green Sheet Performing Arts Awards for their efforts in musical and nonmusical productions performed in the eight area schools this year. Winners of eight acting awards plus plaudits for other aspects of productions will be presented on Wednesday, May Female Supporting Competition nominations. The judges were entertained by Anne Jacobsens performance as Ursula, the teen-ag- e sidekick of Kim in Bye Bye Birdie at Cottonwood. Belinda Morgan was outstanding as the delightful Miss Adelaide in Granites Guys and Dolls where she never broke dozen nonmusicals. Ron will serve as master of ceremonies. The affair is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. The nominees are listed in Van-Woerd- order alphabetical their of character. and vocal performance as the bubbly Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel. Also outstanding in Carousel was Tara Rowe, who played Nettie Fowler. Her singing was superb. Nominations for outstanding achievement in female lead roles went to girls from Murray, Olympus and Taylorsville high schools. Murrays Angie Price is nominated for a fine effort in the difficult role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl Her performance was solid throughout and the finale was especially superb. Olympus highs JoAnne Anderson brought a beautiful singing voice to the role of Julie Jordan in Carousel. She played youth and maturity equally well. At Taylorsville, Cyndi Murphy seemed to enjoy her role as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun as much as the audience did. She was excellent both as a hick and as a more sophisticated woman. Male Supporting Five actors gained attention in supporting roles, where competition was very stiff. At Cottonwood, Scott Evenson brought considerable maturity, a tremendous musical talent and good comedy to the role of Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie. Also In Birdie, the judges were impressed by the efforts of Kenneth Tinkham, who played the rejected boyfriend, Hugo Peabody. Murray highs Cary Charon was outstanding as Eddie Ryan, the close friend and would-bsuitor of Fanny Brice in Funny Leads e The young men who played roles at Granite, Murray, Olympus and Taylorsville captured nominations.
