Show Saturday, February 25, 2006 DAILY HERALD REACHOUT MISSIONARIES GIVING AND GOOD NEWSIN UTAH VALLEY Profile: Beth Farnsworth, Applegate HomeCare & Hospice Volunteer gives nearly 100 hoursassisting hospice patients wice each week, Beth Farnsworth spends herafternoons caring for patients from Applegate HomeCare & Hospice. Since she ‘began working as a volunteerin July, she has volunteered nearly 100 hours caring forelderly patients. “Bethis one of our most reliable volunteers, both to the agency as well as to her patients,” said Tara Adams, corporate volunteer coordina- tor for Applegate HomeCare & Hospice. “Applegate's philosophy revolves around comfort, peace anddignity, and Beth exemplifies this in every way as she sharesher gifts and talents with herclients and our agency.” Asa hospice volunteer Farnsworthvisits with patients in their homes, looking for ways to make them happy. “Oneofthe best ways to serve those whoareterminally illis by talking andlistening to them,” Farnsworthsaid. “Touch can makea bigdiffer- enceas well. Just sitting by them andholding their hand can bring a lot of comfort.” Since Farnsworth has been oped new relationships that she has found very rewarding. “She loves going to see peoplein their own environments andloves hearing about thelives they havelived and how they have come to be the people they are,” Adams said. “Beth has takenthe time to go above and beyondwithherclients.
