Benton, 60 North 100 West, Kaysville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with dinner at Grandmothers House Restaurant in Salt Lake City with their children and grandchildren. THEY WERE married June 2, 1919 at the home of Mrs. Benton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan J. Jones in Park City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are converts to the LDS Church. Mr. Benton was employed for 46 years with the Union Pacific Railroad as an agent telegrapher. He worked in Idaho, Montana and Utah. They moved to Kaysville in 1941 from Trenton, Cache County, Utah. He worked for 16 years at the Kaysville Station until it was closed in May 1957. Mr. Benton has been active in the scouting program for many years in Cache and Davis counties. He is a high priest in the Kaysville First LDS Ward and has been active in many church activities. They are David E. and Lloyd J. both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Paul E. of Salt Lake City; Dr. Daniel Benton, Roy; Dr. John Eldon Benton, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Mrs. Phillip (Juanita) Bryson, Bountiful. He has been employed by the American Meat Packing Company, Swifts, Sessions Meat Market and then became a state meat inspector in 1953. Continuing this service until he retired in 1970. BENNETT 825-039- The Syracuse Third Ward Relief Society will be holding their closing social on Thurs- " day evening, June 14 at 7 p.m. in the ward Cultural Hall. This is a joint affair for both the day and evening sessions. A planned potluck dinner will be served and an outstanding program will be presented following the dinner. Special guests for this social will be the husbands of all Relief Society members of the ward. Mrs. Maude Bennett and her daughter, Mrs. LeGrande (Beverly) Belnap of Hooper, have returned home after a trip that took them to Las Vegas, Nev., where they visited at the home of their son and brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman G. Bennett. They went to San Fransicso, where they spent part of the following week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed W. Bennett, another son. ; : While in San Francisco, they attended the farewell and sacrament meeting that honored Elder Kelly Bennett, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Bennett, who is planning to leave in the near future for an LDS mission. A large group from Syracuse motored to Salmon, Ida. recently to attend the blessing and naming of Shane Rhoades, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rhoades, former residents of this area. The lad was born at the Salmon Valley Hospital in Idaho and weighed 8 lb 6 oz. He is their first child. Those traveling to Idaho included Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Fielding and their daughter Robyn, Mr. and Mrs. Winslow Rhoades and their daughters, Shirley and Ann, and son Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fielding and son Ryan. Mrs. Rhoades was the former Cindy Fielding of Syracuse. Mrs. Bessie Schoenfeld has returned home from a three week trip to Spain, Portugal and Morocco. She reportedly had a delightful trip and found these places very interesting. Mr. and Mrs. Braden Mann took a group of little folks to the zoo in Salt Lake City recently. The occasion was the observance of the birthday of their son Travis', who was five years old. A special guest of the group was Travis grandmother, Mrs. Leonard Mann of Layton. Layton By DONETA M.
