They were painted in 1927 and a few years later were covered with wallpaper, just as they hung on the walls, said Tony Rasmussen, center director. They are on loan to the Bountiful Art Center from the Utah Museum of Fine Arts." HE EXPLAINED that the paintings, about 12 feet long and six feet high, were "salvaged from the old hotel when it was learned that no one knew of the whereabouts of the paintings and that they might still be in the hotel. Mr. Stewart said he was told the paintings had been removed, but no one seemed to know who had them, said Mr. Rasmussen. On the assumption that they might still be hanging in the old hotel, we began a search and found them covered with wallpaper. THE HUGE murals were well preserved although removal of the wallpaper did some minor damage. The murals were then restored by Judy Rose of Salt Lake City and donated to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. : He added that it was a miracle that the paintings e were not ruined because employees of the hotel said the manager at that time was a fanatic for painting walls but for some reason this particular room was wallpapered instead of painted. old-tim- MR.
