Show DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, JANUARY 29, 1981 WEEKLY REFLEX Celebrates 92nd Layton The family of Alice Ellison Adams gathered at the family home in Layton on Jan. 22 to celebrate with her on her 92nd birthday. The evening was spent in visiting and reminiscing about the great changes during her very active 92 years. By DONETA M. GATHERUM 773-49- Several Layton residents who are members of the Taber-nacl- e Choir, traveled to Washington, D.C. to sing with the choir at the inauguration SHE HAD traveled both long and short distances by horse and buggy or sleigh, has cleaned coal oil ceremonies for President Ronald Reagan. They were Harris Adams, Richard one-hor- Maughn, Doyle Egan and Mrs. Shirley Egan. Mrs. Ethel Adams, the wife of Harris Adams, took the lamps and trimmed their wicks, has stored block ice cut from frozen ponds, delivered messages by horseback, hauled water for household use in barrels from a spring some distance from her childhood home, ironed with sad irons (those heated on top of a wood or coal stove), cured meat and put vegetables in the pit for winter use. Her homemade ice cream and angel food cake have become legend. She has been a fine horsewoman and an outstanding judge of good use. MRS. ADAMS was bom on Jan. 22, 1889 at the Ellison family home in Layton to Ephraim Peter and Elizabeth Whitesides Ellison, the seventh of nine children. She was educated in schools at Layton, Kaysville and at the University of Utah. She spent some time during her earlier years in Canada, Nevada and Bear Lake where her family had interests. fin June 1, 1911 she married Jabez Samuel Adams in the Salt Lake Temple and they made their home in Layton, Couple United Among the winter brides is the former Miss Verleen MR. AND MRS. LUIS FERNANDO JORDAN Roundy who recited wedding vows on Jan. 10, 1981 with Alan G. Harris in the Ogden LDS Temple. Elder Ovel E. Henderson officiated at the ceremony. Exchange Vows ' On Dec. 27, 1980, Theresa Louise Vigil of Layton became .the bride of Luis Fernando Jordan in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Chruch. THE BRIDE is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe S. Vigil of Layton. The groom is the son of Raul Rodriquez and Beatriz Montano De Rodriquez of Cerritos, Calif. A reception was held following the wedding at St. Rose Hall. THE BRIDE wore a lace over satin dress with a five which was yard train-ve- il made by her mother. The bride carried a small crocheted Victorian bag. V Roberta Babb, sister of the. bride, was matron of honor. Delia Appleby and Kelly Spendlove were bridesmaids. h All the attendants wore light blue long sleeved gowns. Their bouquets were centered with white and blue floor-lengt- ghramillos, forget-me-no- ts and mini white bells with satin ribbons. GINA BABB, Angela Ap- pleby, Patricia Rodriquez were the flower girls. Andv Jr. was the ring bearer. Vigil Best men were John Montano of California, Mike Parra of Maryland and Joseph Vigil of Layton, with David Appleby and Fred Vigil as ushers. THE BRIDE graduated from Layton High School, attended WSC and Cypress College in Cypress, Calif. She is employed at Park West Medical Center in Bunea Park, Calif. The groom graduated from Richard Ghar High School. Cerritos. Calif. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Hill AFB. He later returned to California and is now attending USC College in Los Angeles. He is majoring in air space engineering. FOLLOWING A short hon- eymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nev. the couple will make their home in Bunea Park, Calif. The grooms family are havannouncement ing a wedding reception on Feb. 7 at Cerri- tos, Calif. THE BRIDE is the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. V. Clair Roundy of Lander, Wyo. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wayne Harris of Fruit Heights. A wedding breakfast at the Mansion House in Ogden honored the newlyweds following the ceremony and was hosted by the grooms parents. The couple greeted guests at a reception Jan. 16 in Lander, Wyo. but was honored at an open house on Jan. 10 at the Fruit Heights LDS Chapel. New Rotary Members Introduced The weekly meeting of the Layton Rotary Club was held Wednesday at noon at the Chateau Reception Center in Laytqn. . ' full-leng- th " f AT THE first of the year in- troductory meeting, new members of the Rotary Club were asked to give a short speech. Those new club members who were introduced to the Rotary included Chuck Peppier, the manager of Merlyns; Dr. Chip Yates, a physician at Tanner Clinic; Dan Gaerber, a stock broker with Merrill Lynch; Ken Cuth-ber- t, the manager of First Security Bank :n Layton. Rotary Club officers welcomed the new members and told of the Rotarys plans for THE BRIDE was dressed in a gown of white accented with delicate lace trim. It featured an empire waistline with a and long full sleeves gathered into tucks on the deep cuffs. The veil of silk bridal illusion fell softly from a crown of white flowers and greenery. The veil was trimmed in matching lace. Her bouquet was made up of light peach colored roses with burgandy and peach daisies trimmed with lace. Attending the bride were Joyce E. Martin as maid of honor, with Janet Farnsworth and Wendy K. Gene as bridesmaids. - min-atu- 1981. Syracuse News Winners of the Reflection contest will be announced and given special honor. All the entries to the contest will be on display. First place winners in each category will give or show their entry. Also the first presdident of the Syracuse PTA, Mrs. Laura S. Gailey, will be especially honored. It is hoped that all interested persons will be in attendance as parents and students are invited. Warren R. Cook is now showing some improvement from a heart attack that he suffered two weeks ago. He is receiving treatment at the Davis North Medical Center in Layton. THE ATTENDANTS were dressed in floral peach print styled with a lace collar and lace inset down the front of the bodice with tiny buttons. The dresses were tied in back and were street length. The skirts were gathered at the waist. They wore corsages of light peach roses and burgandy and peach daisies. The mothers chose floor-lenggowns of deep burgandy with featuring a collar, tucks down the front of the bodice and a belt tied at the The Kiwanis Club of Kaysville has set Feb. 5 as the date for their charter night banquet. The dinner and program will be held at the Oakridge Country Club in Farmington beginning at 7 p.m. waist. Their corsages were light peach roses, burgandy and peach daisies. DORIS ROUNDY, sister of the bride, attended the guest book. Gary Harris performed the duties of best man with Daniel Harris as the usher. Verleen is a graduate of Lander High School and will graduate from BYIJ this spring with a degree in family resource management. Alan is a graduate of Davis High and will graduate from BYU with a degree in communications and psychology. He has fulfilled an LDS mission in Oregon. Jenefer Ann Silvester became the bride of Brent Lee Youngfield in rites performed in the Bertha Eccles Hall in Ogden. Bishop Grant Steed officiated at the ceremony. A reception followed the wedding ceremony. moving into the present Adams home in 1916. IN THIS home they raised their four children, Mrs. Noall Z. (Helene) Tanner; Mrs. Robert M. (Cleone)Whitman, Wendell E., and David E. Adams, all of Layton. Mr. Adams died in 1965 but Mrs. Adams has continued living in the family home. She has 18 living grandchildren and 26 Roundy, all of Wyoming; Joyce E. Martin, Lander, East and they traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the Presidential Inauguration. The Winwards saw the inauguration ceremony, the parade and one of the balls. They also visited with friends and attended a special dinner party. Carl Woodward, son of Mrs. Bang! This important event will mark the official beginning of the Kaysville Club. Dr. L. Bruce Jensen, president of the Kaysville group, stated that anyone interested in being a charter member of the Kaysville Kiwanis should contact him before Feb. 3. Shelia and Kim Anderson also represented Layton at a leadership conference held in St. George. Brenda Brooks had a holiday story recently published in a local newspaper. Lislie Hillier won first place in the Utah States Miss Wool contest. Kathleen Isom was named Miss Super Sensational in recent drill team competition. New Primary president for the Layton 28th Ward is Sue Gaerber.
