Gailev Funeral services were held Thursday afteroon at the Syracuse Sixth Ward Chapel for Edwin Edmonds Gailey, 86, who died July 20, 1981 at the Davis North Medical Center in Layton of causes incident to age. nursing home. She was born Mar. 6, 1908 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Orson F. and Lydia Ellen Higley Walton. A LIFELONG resident of Layton, she attended Davis High School, and was retired from Hill AFB. She was a member of the Layton 14th Ward and served two missions for the LDS Church, one in the GEORGE W. MITCHELL George Mitchell Services Arc Held MR. GAILEY has made his home with a daughter and Bishop and Mrs. Donald Rentmeister, 2255 S. Bluff Rd., Syracuse, since the passing of his wife. He was born Dec. 3, 1894 in South Hooper, Ut., the son of David and Elisa Edmonds Gailey. He married Maggie Elizabeth Smedley Nov. 23, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Gailey died July 6. 1976. MR. GAILEY had been employed by Barnes Canning Co. in Syracuse for 20 years, and at the Ogden Arsenal and Hill AFB for another 21 years. He had been a crossing guard in Syracuse for five years. Invocation by Willard M. Bambrough, with Joan R. Nakaisha giving a tribute to grandfather. A musical selection by Anna Easthope, Kathleen Telford, LuJean Ferrell He attended schools in Davis County, was an active member of the Syracuse Sixth Ward where he had been chairman of the boy scout committee and first counselor in the High Priest Quorum. He served on the Old Folks com- mittee for a long time and was a representative for the missionary fund and a home teacher for many years. He served in World War I with the U.S. Infantry. and RaLeen Easthope Sweet, Sweet, Bunch of Daisies, was accompanied by RaNae G. Bodily. SPEAKERS INCLUDED Bishop David Lawrence Cook and Pres. Vern L. Thurgood. A vocal solo by Lloyd E. Dahl I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked, and a vocal quartet consisting of Anna Easthope and daughters sang Beyond The Sunset. The benediction w'as given by Harrold Pratt. The grave was dedicated by Van C. Gailey. SURVIVORS include his sons and daughters, Neil S. Gailey and Mrs. Grant (Adele) Cunning, both of Clearfield; Verge H. Gailey and Mrs. Donald (Genene) Rentmeister, both of Syracuse; Van C. Ward Relief Society and vsb Western States, 1972-197- Walton, Layton; brothers, George Willey Mitchell, 57, of 277 E. 100 N died July 18, 1981 on a golf course of an apparent heart attack. He was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Bountiful, the son of Edward Emery and Luella Willey Mitchell. He married Mina Shurtliff Dec. 5, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. THE COUPLE made their home in Layton for eight years, Roy for five years, before moving to Clearfield. Mr. Mitchell served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. He attended WSC after graduating from Davis High School and graduated from the U. of U. with a degree in business administration. He was employed in the real estate business for 32 years and was a sales manager of the Barlow Realty Co. in Layton. He was a me mber of the Council and Planning Commision and served on the board of Davis County Mosquito Abatement District. He served on the board of adjustments for Davis County and was a former member of the Clearfield Kiw'anis Club. IIE WAS a member of the Clearfield Third Ward, a High Priest, and had held numerous positions in his ward and stake. Surviving are his wife of Clearfield; sons and daughters, Dennis S. Mitchell. Concord, Calif.; Ronald S. Mitchell and Mrs. Theron (Jana) Leishman, Clearfield; Mrs. Norman (Carleen) Hansen, ALSO SURVIVING are his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Louise Harper and Roy W. Mitchell, Bountiful; Mrs. Leone Cook, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Vern (Alice) Hess, Farmington; Steven W. Mitchell, Centerville; Mrs. Wally (Dons) Nalder, Layton; Ben E. Mitchell, Seattle, Wash.; anrl Robert W. Mitchell, Kays-vill- e. Surviving is one son, Paul Mrs. Phyllis Scoffield Allen, 58, of 770 E. Panorama Dr., Ogden, died July 19, 1981 at the McKay-De- e Hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1923 in Layton, the daughter of George Merrill and Mary Morgan Scoffield. She married Vaugh E. Allen Aug. 8, 1942 in Yuma, Ariz. MRS. ALLEN had worked at the Naval Supply Depot and Hill AFB for 30 years. She retired as a budget analyst in 1971. She was a member of the LDS Church and a member of the auxiliary of the Ogden Elks Lodge and the Ogden Eagles lodge. Surviving are her husband of Ogden ; her mother; bothers, Nate M. Scoffield, Clinton; Cal M. Scoffield, Pittsburg, Pa.; Bryce M. Scoffield, Malad, Ida.; sisters, Mrs. Pat Smith, Kaysville and Mrs. Meryln Scott, Deer Park, Calif.; one halfsister, Mrs. Glenna Owens, Ogden. Kaysville By NORMA PREECE 376-875- 1 Miss Rika Irkkura who has been making her home with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schofield and daughter, Taryn, the past year while attending Davis High School on the PIE (Pacific Intercultural Exchange Program) left July 9 to return to her home in Yamanashi, Japan. Rika has had a delightful stay in Utah with the Schofield family and is so happy in the U.S. that she plans to return this fall and attend Ricks College in Rexburg, Ida. Prior to leaving. Mr. and Mrs. Schofield and Taryn took Rika to Ricks College to register for school and later vacationed at Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons. Rika was going to spend some time in California and visit Deisneyland prior to departing July 11 for home. She will return August 26 to attend Ricks. Mr. and Mrs. William S.
