Willis, son of Si and Dixie Willis, Kaysvil-le- , has accepted a call to serve in the Taiwan Taichung Mis- sion. He will speak in the Kaysville 16th Ward Chapel, 331 S. 50 W.. Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m. He enters the MTC Oct. Elder John Hyde has been called to serve in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. He will enter the MTC Sept. 17. John is the son of Ed and Carole Hyde, 994 Thornfield Rd., Kaysville. 1. He graduated from Davis High School in 1980, was on the football and track teams. John is an Eagle Scout and has attended the U. of U. for a year on an academic scholarship. He worked for the U. of U. and General Office Supply in Salt Lake City while attending the university. This summer he a worked for in Anchorage. John will speak in the Kaysville 12th Ward, Crestwood Chapel, at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13. There will be an open house from 5 to 9 Sunday at his home for family, friends and ward members to visit with him. STEVE WAS an honor graduate of Davis High School and a graduate of the Kaysville LDS Seminary. An open house will be held in his honor at his home, 325 S. 200 W., Kaysville, Sept. 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Elder Frederick Martin Kemp has returned home after fulfilling an LDS mission in Canada. He will report on his experiences in the Layton First Ward Sacrament meeting, 789 E. Wasatch Dr., Layton, on Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. ELDER KEMP is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Kemp, 304 Hawthorne Dr. He is a graduate of Layton High School and the LDS Seminary with the class of 1978. Trans-Alask- Elder Bruce Maughan, son of Mrs. Jean Maughan and the late Dale Maughan, 134 E. Gordon Ave., Layton, has been called to serve an LDS mission in Denver, Colorado. HE WILL be honored in the Layton 23rd Ward Sacrament meeting Sept. 13 at 11:30 a.m. The chapel is located at 60 W. Gordon Ave. An open house will follow the church services at the Maughan home. The new elder is a graduate of Layton High School and the Layton LDS Seminary. He played football while in high school and has attended WSC this past year. Wash. k THE training includes instruction in first aid, communications, marksmanship, weapons systems, defensive and offensive tactics, reconnaissance techniques and other areas. Most cadets fulfill their advanced camp requirement during the summer between their junior and senior years in college. The successful completion of the advanced camp and graduation from their espec-tiv- e college or university will result in the student's being commissioned a second lieutenant in the active Army or the U.S. Army Reserve or National Guard. SIX-wee- I The Explorers Bible Study, sponsored by tjje Intermountain Bookstore, began its fall adult classes Sept. 8 in the education wing of the First Christian Church, Elder Stacey Brooks Morgan, son of Floyd D. and Phyllis Morgan of 270 North 900 East, Kaysville, has accepted a mission call to the Japan Sapporo LDS Mission. -- HE WILL enter the Mission Training Center in Provo on Sept. 17. Elder Morgan will speak in Sacrament meeting on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1:10p.m. in the Kaysville 17th LDS Ward at 875 E. 200 North. HE GRADUATED from Davis High School and Kaysville LDS Seminary. DAVID HEIKKILA is the teaching leader with Sheila Matlock, Dorothy Montoya and Chuck Sweet as discussion leaders. E.M. (Pete) Morrison will help with administra- tion. The course of study is the sixth year course in John which follows a five year course of study through the Bible. Thirty lessons will be used this year. Each lesson is designed for 40 minutes of discussion followed by an equal time for lecture and answers to questions. Smedley honored their mother Sept . 4 on her 9 st birthday. A dinner party was held at Maddox Restaurant in Brigham City for the event. 1 MRS. SMEDLEY was born Sept. 4, 1890 in Layton, the daughter of Henry and Nancy King Thornley. She married Henry S. Smedley Sept. 23, 1908 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Adams were cohostesses for the OFT Club meeting at Snowbird in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Activities included a luncheon, a ride on the tram to the top of the ski runs and swimming. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Stirling Thornley, Woods Cross; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Holbrook, Holladay, and two of Dorothy Adams grandchildren, John and Cathy Bundy. Mrs. Dorothy Adams also entertained the Relief Society officers and teachers of her ward at her Snowbird condominium with a ride on the tram and swimming. On Sept. 2, Mrs. Mary Blood of Clearfield entertained friends at a luncheon held at her home. Attending were Mrs. LaVon Stewart, Mrs. Della Reed, Mrs. Ethel Hudson, all of Clearfield; Mrs. Ruth Adams. Layton, and Mrs. Opal Hadfield of Ogden.
