They can save a lot of money in the in 1947; WHEREAS. Reuel E. Christensen was a dedicated community leader, having served several years as the Chairman of the Sanpete Water Conservancy Board, and was noted for his efforts to secure completion of process, explained Reed S. Roberts, extension entomologist, Utah State University. Research indicates that big drops sprayed to kill harmful insects waste a lot of killing power. Normally. these arc 1.000 micron drops that compare to the thickness of a dime. Roberts said entomologists at New Mexico State University found from their research that 30 microns was the most efficient droplet size. In most instances, drops that size will carry the toxic dose needed to kill the target insects. "Farmers, fruit growers and other persons who must depend heavily on pesticides would experience tremendous sav ings if the spray volume could be reduced 25 percent. Roberts said. Oils and commercial additives evaporation of spray chemicals but Roberts said they also reduce tend to increase droplet size. Determining the right amounts requires more study. To keep pesticide costs down hile using them safely also requires careful attention to wind currents w and humidity. Safety must be given first priority, the extension entomologist reminded.
