Under the terms of the new provision, ranchers may now use collars baited with 1080 on their sheep and in single, lethal doses of baited meat. A The lifting of the ban is apparently in specific response to a continuous plea from Western ranchers that they again be permitted to use the compound to battle coyotes which prey on sheep herds. The EPA will continue to closely monitor and provide restrictions on the sale of the substance. Environmentalists immediately announced plans to fight the lifting of the ban in court. Bruce Baker, a spokesman for the Wilderness Society, said he still believed the use of guard dogs" would provide a more equitable solution to predator control. Mr. Baker gave no indication where Utah ranchers could find guard dogs available in the same numbers as Utah coyotes. Defenders of Wildlife, a national environmental group, filed a notice of appeal at the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, a legislative spokesman for the group announced. "Is this teacher really a witch?" Joyce Henretty awaits start of Monti Elementary's Halloween Parade along with costumed kin dergarteners. 34 Years Experience: The Defenders announced that the EPA action could put 1080 in the hands of virtually everyone who wants to use it". Galen Christiansen I am very interested in community affairs. I am all for progress but feel that Manti City has extended it's financial indebtedness about to the fullest. I feel we need to move ahead very cautiously and economically, and some incorporate tight management procedures. I would like to promote industry in our city to lessen the tax burden on our citizens as well as create employment opportunities to help keep our young people at home. David Reed Cox Syndergaard want Manti to continue to be a good place to live and raise a family, and this can be done if we keep the citys indebtedness as low as possible. We cant afford to live here if it costs too much for taxes and utilities. We also need to get the most out of each dollar spent by the city. Manti's Power Department has been one of the best in the area, but we need to keep improving it and make it better to get well planned, improvements. I want to form a Power Board consisting of 5 to 7 people from our area that have the background and knowledge to run the Power Department. With proper management our Power Department can really save us money in the long run! If elected I would always serve you, the citizens of Manti. I cost-efficie- nt I have a deep concern for the city of Manti and ail its citizens. I would like to see greater involvement in city government by Citizens Committees. I would like to see our power plants updated and have worked with two power boards to that end. I would like to see the utility bills lowered and think with proper planning this could be accomplished. I also feel we as a city should pay off our present obligations before adding more. I feel I have experience in most of the fields pertaining to our city. If elected I would remember I am serving you, the citizens of Manti. Vote Republican on November 8th |
