Cheney announced Thursday. n These grants will help these fine institutions strengthen and Aw expand their programs in the humanities, which in turn will enrich the cultural life of our nation, said Cheney. Snow received a challenge grant of $258,157 to support renovation of the Applied Science Building for a Humanities Center to provide space for classrooms, offices and public programming. Each dollar the Endowment offers to an institution receiving a challenge grant for the first time must, in turn, generate at least three dollars. Spirit Contest winners named Manti High Schools Spirit Button Contest, sponsored by the schools Media Center, had 14 winners after the judges considered dozens of entries. Buttons will soon be available for all Templar fans, said Voni Rivas, Library Media Center director. She said that the contest entries demonstrated a lot of creativity. Thanks to the principal, the faculty and the staff for encouraging the students to participate, Mrs. Rivas said. And thanks to the firms which donated the prizes, she added. Michael Wilkinson won the first prize, a $10.00 savings account donated by Zions First National Bank in Manti; Marc Anderson won the second prize, a $ 10 gift certificate donated by Jensens in Manti. Chris Cox won third place and David Lindsay fourth place. Both received chicken strip dinners with medium drinks contributed by Charlies Drive In in Ephraim.
