May Day program scheduled Ephraim Elementary would like to invite all families, friends, and school patrons to attend the traditional May Day Program. This year the program will be at 10 a.m. on May 26th in the Snow College Activity Center. It will feature songs and dances performed by all of the students, plus the traditional May Pole Dance, which has been performed in the school for nearly 50 years. This award was given to recognize all HOST volunteers as a valuable asset to the education of youth in our community. The HOST volunteers who have participated are: Ken Lindsay, Lynn Poulson, Maxine Shep- herd, Cathleen Deakin, Esther Anderson, Rachel Jensen, Delila Olsen, Jayne Van Epps, Luana Green, Rhea Peterson, Astrid Larsen, Joyce Olsen, LaRue Johnson, Kristine Green, Denise The South Sanpete School District recommended to the affected schools that they make that decision because of the possibility of an expensive lawsuit based on a Supreme Court ruling. Ockey, son of John and SueAnne Ockey ofEphraim, has been called to serve in the Anchorage, Alaska LDS Mission. He will enter the MTC on May 26. His farwell will be Sunday, May 23, 1993 in the Ephraim 5th Ward at 10:50 a.m. Randy is a 1992 graduate of Manti High School and Seminary. While there he played on the tennis team. He attended BYU this last year. Randy is the third son to serve an LDS Mission in the Deans List for academic achievement. Russell, Mt Pleasant and Wendy L. Davis, Wales. Steven Jerome Day called to serve in Chile Mission Steven Jerome Day has been called to serve an LDS mission in the Chile, Santiago South Mission. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on June 9, 1993. Steve is the son of Gerald and LuAnn Day ofEphraim. He is the grandson of Martha Day and Florice Smith, both ofDraper. He will speak in sacrament Sunday, May 23 at 12:20 p.m. in the Ephraim Stake Center. Steve is a 1992 graduate of Manti High School, where he was active in football and golf, and graduated from LDS Seminary. College. He is concurrently teaching Korean and English as a Second Language at Snow, and is a member of the college curriculum and academic standards committees. He has an MA degree in Language Steven J. Day He is currently attending Snow College. Pleasant Grove and Virginia Jacobs of Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1990 and is an LDS Seminary and Institute graduate. Since graduating from Snow College in 1992, Jessica has been working in Ephraim, Utah. Jessica will speak in sacrament services on Sunday, May 23 at 10:45 a.m. in the Mayfield will serve mission nt average (GPA) of 3.6 or better with at least 25 graded class credits. It you have an infestation and just let it go, it will double in size every year. The following chemicals will give good control. Escort (metsulfuron) is one of the most environmentally-saf- e herbicides. Apply 12 to 1 ounce of produce per acre, in 20 to 40 gallons of water, when plants are actively growing. Escort starves the plant to death and will take two to four weeks to accomplish its purpose. If you want to speed up the process and get exceptionally good control, add two to three pints of2,4-- per acre. You should also add 12 to lpintof surfactant per acre. D Telar(chlorsulfuron). Apply same rate as Escort. 2,4-Apply 3 to 4 quarts per acre in 20 to 50 gallons of water. This treatment is more effective if applied before the blossom opens. You also need to add a surfactant to the solution. D: Note: When spraying , whitetop it is important that you obtain thorough foliar coverage. Always read the label when us ing any herbicide.
