Ben Byrd pitched the shutout in the first game and had to get out of some sticky situations. In the fifth inning the Wolverines loaded the bases w ith no outs. We still have a lot of games in handing Utah Valley their third loss the double play. A grounder to the first baseman was turned into a home to first twin killing that got the Badgers out of trouble. Snow College managed just one run, but it was all they needed of the season. Game two of the afternoon looked like it was going in the same direction with Utah Valley getting the first run in the bottom of the second inning and the Badgers were being stymied by good pitching by the Wolverines. The Badgers got their opening in the fifth inning when an error with two outs allowed Snow a baserunner. It looked to be unnerving to U VSC as the next batter, T. J. King of Gunnison took the first pitch over the fence for a two run homerun and the Badgers went up 1 and never looked back. Snow College added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, two were walked in by Utah Andersen. But were in good position. We just need to keep playing our game and everything will take care of itself. But the Templars have also revealed a proneness to make errors, like overthrows and dropped flies, that can be costly. And that tendency has the coaching staff concerned as Manti prepares for a doubleheader Friday on the Templar field with the Morgan Trojans. The Trojans, one of the ranked teams, knowhow to make the most of an opponents errors. Manti ended its schedule a week ago Monday in Mt. Pleasant by defeating the North Sanpete Haw ks for the second time this spring. The end result: a 6 win for the Templars. But the victory didnt come as easy as the score indicated.
