Snow College looked like they were ready to upset the number one seed from the north, Ricks College, when they took a 4 lead in the fourth inning and their ace Ben Byrd on the mound. Zach Rappleye gave the Bad 5-- gers the lead with a three run blast over the left field wall and the lead held up until the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Badgers brought in relief help for Byrd who walked the bases loaded. The Vikings could only get one run, but it was enough to tie the game and force extra innings. That was all Ricks needed as they won it in the bottom of the 2-- Cowgirls Saturday afternoon (May 20) at on the Gunnison 1 after the loss. The last three years the team that has won it all, has lost their first game, but that hope was dashed in a hurry as they ran into the Dixie Rebel hitting machine in their second game. Amy Warner also finished 4th in the discus (school record 88 feet), as did Shelly Otten in the high jump tying the school record with a jump of 5 feet. Shelly also finished 6th in the long jump.
