Show Page 4 Thursday, November 14, 1996 Messenger-Enterpris- e Busy "elves" now preparing for Festival of Trees Volunteers from throughout Utah hav e been busier than Santas elves preparing for the 1996 Festival of Trees. The magic they create will fill the Salt Palace from Wednesday, December 4, through Saturday, December 7, at this 26th annual event to benefit needy children at Primary C hildrens Medical Center. Utahs Festival of Trees is recognized throughout the country for its spectacular display of over 500 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, and centerpieces. But, what makes this event truly unique is the thousands of volunteers who come together at the busiest time of car all to help children. It begins with 81 dedicated women who compose the Festival of Trees Executive Board. The board is led by Chairman Kris Wright, Sandy, with Co-cha- ir Earlene Rex, Salt Lake City, and Kac Rasmussen, Alpine. Each board member recruits a committee of ten or more women and men who work thoughout the year to orchestrate this four-da- y event. Over its history, the Festival has raised almost $10 million for the treatment of sick children at Primary Childrens Medical Center who do not have the financial resources for medi26-ye- ar Another aspect that cal care.
