Dont Drinks & Drive Art Club spreads its color By Wesley Crouch Artists make the world sub- stantially more beautiful. This year the members of the Art Club have utilized their talents to provide a bit of color in otherwise monochromatic situations. The Art Clubs ingenious members this year were Sherry Black (President), Mindy Layton (Vice Pres), Ty Poulson (Secretary), Drew Soderborg (Treasurer), Brenda Martinez (Representative), Kari Dey, Kiersten Dey, Kimberly Williams (happy little helper), Julie VanHorn, and Nathan Hailing, members. The advisor is David Johnson. They spent countless hours painting scenery for the school play, Damn Yankees. For a month they averaged one and a half hours per day after school painting. They also painted the Beatles scenery for the drill teams novelty dance and they spent comparable time on that project. Anytime the school needed something done that needed some art work, the Art Club came through. They did caricatures at the homecoming tailgate party, buttons for Red Ribbon g Week, they set up, provided refreshments, and prize money for anti-dru- ductive clubs. They designed their own (and they are lovely), sponsored a dance, and they took a field trip to the Springville Art Museum. The club has provided opportunities to make friends. It has brought together individuals with similar interests. Their activities are always full of laughter and the occasional paint fight (all in good humor of course). Although it has been a club for quite some time, the club has not been this active. It had been revived under the guidance of advisor David Johnson, President Sherry Black, and not to mention the willful and creative members. Their portrait of the year is now the Annual High School Students Art Exhibit, made programs and organized Arts Night, they made a spectacular homecoming float, and painted decorations for Sadie Hawkins. They have been one of complete and the colors have this years busiest and most pro been spread. ou are invited!!!
