Just a couple of weeks ago I went into a local glass store to spend $200 to $300 for some glass work. Upon entering the store I was confronted with a very offensive sign that said, Customers Not Allowed in Work Area. What that sign really says is We are too busy to have you mess up our time. Dont bother us with your problems. We are too busy to be bothered by you. So I went into the office area and the secretary told me that I should please take a seat, and she will be with me when she is finished with what she is doing. What she is telling me also is that I am interrupting her work and she will get to me when it is convenient for her. So when we get treated like that, 1 for one dont mind driving to the next county to be treated like I expect to be treated. Every businessman in the county ought to shop at Main Auto if they would like to learn how to treat customers. Dale and Larry Lund and Alex will call you by name, greet you with a smile, and make you feel great for just coming in. They always go the extra mile in testing, helping, advising, being courteous and helpful. What a pleasure to go into that store. I always feel good for just having gone in. I know Ill be treated fair, and once in a while if I pay a little more that at someplace else I always feel so good in doing business with them that price falls to second or third place in importance. Yes, we can be grateful and happy when new businesses come to town. The whole county will benefit. Merrill J. Occasionally we are forced to run a story without even reading it (and thats dangerous!) Also once in a while David (never me) will write a headline without taking time to thoroughly read the story' (and thats dangerous too). I guess all the above diatribe is to try to justify all our mistakes. Many people can make mistakes and the world wont know about it, but not in this business. We make all our mistakes in public, but we at least dont lie about it, as one person I could mention??? And we try to admit them without being forced to do so by a private investigator. Like two w ccks ago, w hen w e m isplaced the announcement of Garth and Marie Beachams golden wedding observance (which came in in plenty of time). When I came to work on Thursday morning, just after taking the paper to the Post Office, I found Garth and Maries announcement under an envelope on my desk. I felt terrible, because the event was to take place that weekend. When I called Garth (before he got his paper and noticed it wasn't in), and told him of the mistake Id made, he was most gracious, (albeit disappointed - who wouldnt be?). But we did run the story (in the past tense) last week, and I understand they had a wonderful occasion, even if the announcement didnt get out in the paper. We apologize once more to Garth and Marie. When they get to 60 years, well make sure we dont goof up again. UtalTs Blackhawk War: Cultures in Conflict As the American Civil War came to a close, the Territory of Utah erupted into violence as Ute Indians and Mormon settlers fought to occupy the same land. Although Brigham Young continually preached peace, men, women and children on both sides of the conflict were subject to raids, treachery, betrayal, kidnapping and murder. Lead by Chief Blackhawk, the natives were successful in stopping white expansion as scores of Mormons evacutated their settlements and relocated to larccr communities and newly erected forts. Told through vivid and by the descendants of those involved in Utah s Blackhawk War, this documentary focuses on the cultural, economic and political affairs which existed in Utah during the 860s.
